Every Clinton supporter I know will vote for Obama
I have an aunt, my mother, a sister and brother-in-law, 3 nieces, at least 5 friends, several colleagues, and my spouse who are all strongly for Clinton. They will all vote for Obama. I do not know one Clinton supporter who will not vote for Obama.

From what I've read the Clinton supporters who will vote for McCain are mostly Republican and Independent white professional women who were in solidarity with Clinton because she's a woman. Although I'm an Obama supporter, this primary season very much reminded me of the antics of the left in the 1970s when they cited homosexuality as proof of capitalist decadence. The attacks on Clinton's looks, laugh, and tears were despicable examples of sexism that even appeared on rare occasion and were allowed in DU.

Those Clinton supporters who will back McCain or not vote are a mirror image of those Obama supporters who would do the same if Clinton had won the nomination, even though a McCain government would set back abortion, gay rights, and eliminate any chance for peace in the Middle East. If those Clinton haters here can figure out their problem, perhaps we could learn something so as to reach out to Obama haters. Obama will need every vote he can get to win, and frankly I'd rather he campaigned for Clinton supporters more than for fundamentalists.

2. I've experienced the same
Some of my friends were a little vocal with the "I can never support Obama" chant, but now that it is all but over they are all on board with him. No woman I know is so short sited as to think that they would vote for grampy mcinsane or stay home. There are a few from both sides that are so entrenched with personality that they can't see the big picture.

Democrats will unite around Obama and those few that won't are not real democrats

4. And I'm sure most Dems will .. but too many Obama folks enjoy
accusing Hillary people of not planning on voting for the nominee in order to justify their hate of Hillary and her supporters.

11. I hope you are wrong about that (blaming just to justify hate)
I was personally involved in a thread that a Clinton supporter stated she was voting for McCain. I didn't want to believe that there were democrats that would, and though it's clear you aren't one, there are others who have stated openly that they would.

btw, I don't hate Clinton and had she won I would have voted for her (try to keep in mind that many of us were not for Obama when this started). We all have to play the cards we're dealt and sometimes they are crappy.

17. I understand what you're saying....There will obviously
be a certain number of Hillary supporters who will not support Obama.

However, keep in mind that people say things they don't mean in the heat of battle.

Also keep in mind that plenty of Obama supporters have gone on record saying they would never support Hillary.

I just think once things calm down more, come November, the overwhelming majority of Democrats like myself plan on supporting the nominee -- even if we don't particularly care for the person -- whether it be Obama or Hillary.

16. Why do you insist on defending Rape-Publicans as "Hillary supporters?"
If a so-called "Hillary person" won't vote fo the Dem nominee - and plenty have made that threat, here and elsewhere - what makes that person a Dem?

20. How many Obama supporters have fiercely stated they
won't vote for the Dem nominee if it's Hillary Clinton.

What makes them a Dem?

Exactly.

So climb down from your soap box ClassWarrior.

6. Same here
with the exception of two Hispanic women who didn't understand the full implications of a McCain victory. One just got her citizenship in September and was so excited to vote for a Clinton, and the other is the housekeeper of our neighbor and just want so badly to see a woman as president.

I explained to both of them, the importance of having a Democratic cabinet and Democratic advisors and a Democrat naming the next Supreme Court Justices. That brought them back. However, I know that seeing Hillary support and campaign for Obama, would have brought them back anyway.

7. I have had the same experience
locally in the "real" world.. I know many Clinton supporters and every single one of them has said that they will vote for Senator Obama if he is the candidate.. they at this juncture are hoping to see Senator Clinton as vp..but talking to them this weekend..that is not a deal breaker either.. nor a requisite for their vote.. just a wish..

I had put in another thread, I have never met people who are like the "Harriet" from NY.. locally our Clinton supporters thought that she was a plant or paid actress.. we had that happen here in Iowa a few years ago..a paid actress in a commercial acting like a Iowa resident.. It caused quite an uproar

10. Dems will vote for Dems. Repubs and Independents for Obama or Hillary will do what they want.
This is why I don't like open primaries and caucuses. I don't want Republicans and Independents picking our candidates and then doing whatever they want come the General Election.

Democrats will overwhelmingly vote Democratic.

22. The Clinton supporters I know, will write her name in, in the GE...
As of last night, through e-mails from them, they will be writing her name in.
They figure it won't matter anyway, as she won this state and this state will
go blue in the GE, as they always do. They want to make a point. They're angry
and upset about Florida and the blatant sexism they saw during the race. They
said they would NOT go as far to vote for McLame but they will write her in.
Hopefully those that say they'll vote McLame will calm down before November.

25. This is my experience as well.
I have loved ones who are passionate Hillary supporters, but would never consider sitting out an election or heaven forbid, vote for McCain. We have been through the wringer these last 8 years. There is too much at stake.

My candidate dropped out just before Super Tuesday, so I understand how disappointing it is to have to let go of the dream, but I have know doubt that most Hillary supporters, given some time to work through the pain and the disappointment will vote for the Democratic nominee. We're all on the same side. :grouphug:

Do they live in the Appalachia section of the US? Because, this section is where most of the "Hillary or bust" supporters seem to be.

29. Democrats run the show in this part of Appalachia
And the most avid Clinton supporters I know plan to write her name in. The people would NEVER
pull the lever for ANY republican either. The elitist attacks on their beliefs, intelligence
and heritage as Democrats did not help Obama's cause.

36. I do realize that I'm the devil incarnate because I supported her...
Add me to that list also...

Although I've fully endorsed and supported Sen. Clinton since day one, I will happily vote for either candidate as I believe both are strong, politically savvy, and best represent my interests.

And yes-- I do realize that I'm the devil incarnate because I supported her. I do realize that I'm an Authoritarian Who Hates America because I supported her. I do realize that Freedom means nothing to me because I've supported her. And lastly, I do realize that I'm neither a good Progressive nor a good Democrat because I've supported her... at least, that's what I've been told in GDP.

But I realize that all of the above are also true when I pull the lever for Sen. Obama in the GE. It simply depends on which "good and absolute" Progressive or Democrat I'm talking to.

However, as for all of you who have indeed told me these things, you'll continue to receive the precise same amount of credibility from me after the elections are over as you receive from me now (read that as you will...).

After the nominations are over and done with and we collectively remove our heads from our asses, take a look around us, and slowly come to the realization that it wasn't our candidates who hurt the party but ourselves alone who did that (consciously and with intent, every day) we may then have one, last opportunity to perceive that we are not in fact, each other's enemies.

You (collectively in GDP-- regarldess of which candidate you've supported) have been much more rude, more uncivil, more common and base, more uncharitable, more conservative, and less tolerant in your attitudes, your words, and your deeds than anyone on FR could ever dream of being. You have lowered the standards of discourse on DU. You have maintained your absolute righteousness with a fervor that a television evangelical would admire. And, in so many words, you have told us that we're going to hell because we didn't support the "right" candidate in a way that would embarrass Reverend Hagee.

But you did do one positive thing for me...I can more readily empathize with posters who write, "stop throwing your religion in my face", because you have indeed and in fact done precisely the same thing, the only difference is that you've replaced your religion with your politics, and have replaced a Deity with a tin-god.

Congratulations, GDP! You're worse than FR.

And I'm voting for the Democratic nominee-- whoever that may be-- in November.

(None of this is targeted at the OP, mind you-- this was simply an appropriate thread to vent)
