I feel sorry for Hillary... |
|
Go ahead and flame me. But, I feel sorry for her because there was no one there to help her when she needed it the most. There was no one to help keep her grounded. Mark Penn and Bill Clinton did not help her, in my opinion. They let her believe that it would be all over on February 5th, Super Tuesday. They let her spend money like a drunken sailor and she ended up writing checks to herself to keep her campaign going. Also, they advised her to not come out against the war sooner. That hurt her immensely. She received bad counsel, in my opinion. In the end, it was her decision but like all of us, she tended to listen to the "experts" on specific issues of campaigning. Now, it is over. And I feel sympathy for Hillary Clinton.

I may not like some of the stuff she has done or her style of politics but I can certainly feel sympathy.

3. I feel sympathy for her as well, but one thing that we don't know (from the outside |
|
looking in) is what went on behind the scenes! We really don't know if anyone tried to talk reasonably to her and were repulsed by her.... Guess we will probably never know either.

or they supported her decision to play the GOP nasty games.
And when she needed BC to be her rock, he was out slimming folks making it obvious that for the clintons legacy hope can only be found in arkansas.

24. LOL - no one had to smear her - she did it all on her own. |
|
She went negative and Obama did take the high road -
I so wanted him to slam her in the last debate when she referred to her Bosnia sniper lies as misspeak. They were blatant lies and sad, pathetic exaggerations, as were her talk of involvement in the Northern Ireland Peace process. I still want to read Chelsea's thesis.

5. I don't because if she wants to be President, she is in charge of herself and her campaign and it's |
|
her responsibility to hire the right people and surround herself with competent people and develop a message that is true to who she is. I don't blame these other people for a failed campaign because it is ultimately her campaign. I'm not flaming you; I just see things very differently. If a person wants to hold the highest office in the land, they need to show command for these things.

didn't have her own mind to make up and was so easily influenced by wrong-thinking people around her, that she lost a "sure thing".

7. She should have come out against her own support for the IWR a very long time ago. |
|
too bad she didn't have a "devil's advocate" around her to help steer her course better.
Coming out against the War in the campaign, if she acknowledged how her IWR vote looks like a resume builder to lots of people, would have helped some, but a conversion, or at least a recognition of the facts, would have meant more if it had happened 2 or 3 years ago.

for us to have demonstrated (whether she agreed with us or not) that she understands how WE see that vote on the IWR. If she could have demonstrated that she knew what OUR issues with IWR are. It was a resume builder for a lady who thought it was her only opportunity to show her "strong on defense" qualifications in her, long planned for, candidacy for pResident. At minimum, it demonstrates that she is NOT a leader, but a Reactionary.
She either didn't want to show us that she understood or she couldn't because the constituency she is bidding on, Neo-cons and their Slaves, is bigger than the size of the group that now opposes the Invasion & Occupation of Iraq (and I think she is wrong about that calculation).

8. But just like all of us |
|
We can listen to whoever we want, but in the end it's our choice to decide what we do, how we do it, and how "long" we continue to do things that are hurting us. She could have taken control of things, said she would not run her race the way she did, and took charge. After all is said and done, any person that wants to be the president of this country should be able to show "leadership" and be able to do what is right, not what others tell them to do. We have had enough of that kind of "lack" of leadership by Bush, we need better leadership, not more of the same thing we have had for the last 8 years!

a Hillary supporter--and I don't feel sorry for her--I feel sorry that the American people who got the shaft--once again. From the process of the primary, to Screamin' Dean to "bitter" remarks about working class--from putting up with crazy pastors spewing hatred; to the media who gave passes to Bush and now Obama.
When voters lose their voter's rights; and delegates are just given away (just because); it's time to stop and think about the whole process. What nutjob came up with the idea of superdelegates anyway--one of those talking head's pundits on cable, no doubt.
What a debacle, there was a time, no matter what--the democrats would stick to side of what is right instead they act like a bunch of republicans--getting their guy in--under any circumstances.
I give Hillary all the respect in world in making sure the voters of Fl and Mi and everyone in the process got a chance to be heard; in spite the crazed Obama supporters calling for her drop out as far back as Super Tuesday.
So to Senator Hillary Clinton and President Bill Clinton, Thanks for a wonderful ride--and see you in 2012!!!

26. Sorry I have to disagree |
|
She's a grown woman who's been involved in campaigns for 36 years. She had all the money in the world (and could have had more - failing to tap several sources that BO tapped nicely). She picked her staff, which was virtually ready made, already had a loyal machine in place, and had one of the most savvy national pols in the history of the Republic for a husband. She made the decision to support the War for political reasons and never did a very good job of selling or defending that support. She broke all the rules of the Iowa caucuses, flying in on Hillocopters (!) and was saved by Whouley and the Shaheen machine in NH.
And that's just for starters.

Why I don't know, not after all the crap that she pulled the past few months.
She screwed up, plain and simple. She ran a crappy campaign. If she had admitted screwing up her Iraq vote, had kept Bill in the basement, and maybe kept her rhetoric on the high road, we might be looking at a different ending.
Too bad she lost but she deserved to lose.

33. That is a huge problem with her -- she doesn't seem to stick to any convictions. |
|
The IWR vote was a classic example. She bends in the wind, according to whatever seems politically expedient. This has been a huge criticism of her from the beginning, and it has proven to be a major factor in her downfall. I feel we dodged a bullet by defeating her. She would have made a lousy president because she does not seem to be able to stand up for what she believes in.

This nomination was hers to lose and lose it she did. She had every advantage and she still managed to blow it. She has been delusional from the beginning, refusing to even consider the possibility that she might not win the nomination.
Passing the bulk of the blame to her "experts" is what George Bush's defenders have done. The mess America is in isn't really his fault. It's the fault of his "experts," because they gave him bad advice. I didn't buy that excuse then and I'm not buying it now.
If her "experts" gave her bad advice that means she made a poor choice when hiring them, which speaks poorly of her management skills. This same person who hired bad experts has repeatedly touted her 35 years of experience as the reason she'd be ready on day one.
Bottom line - she is responsible for her campaign, from top to bottom.
Do you think Obama deserves credit for his campaign, or should the bulk of the praise be passed to his "experts?"
