Poll question: Would Choosing Hillary as VP Excite or Depress the GOP?

Does the GOP want to go against me, or do they fear me?

6. I think having a Clinton on the ticket will do much to guarantee a good GOTV effort for the GOP.
But I also believe it's the only way the Democratic Party will be able to unite and support the ticket. The divide is too great, Hillary has received a lot of votes, and Barack hasn't exactly wrapped this thing up, so that shows me there are issues with people accepting Obama as President.

For whatever those reasons may be, in order to get most of Hillary's supporters won over, she's going to have to be on the ticket.

7. If Hillary is on the ticket ...
McSame will be the next president.

Pretty much anyone else will depress the GOP and they'll stay home.

Keep in mind, they are not enthused with McSame.

9. I understand the Republicans aren't thrilled with McSame.
But the Democrats are divided almost equally among Hillary and Barack.

They will have to unify to GOTV on the Dem side. A lot of Hillary's supporters just might stay home if she's not on the ticket. Despite which one you support, (I don't much care for either of them), the overall numbers are very close, which proves the divide.

In order to win, Dems will have to vote in November. The party cannot risk people staying home because they feel excluded from the process.

11. Obama will ...
Get in Independents what he lacks in the Veruca Salt/Harriet Christians who stamp their feet and stay home.

No doubt there will be a lot of people on the GOP side who will stamp their feet and stay home because a hardline conservative didn't get the nomination on the right, and no doubt there will be a lot of people who will stay home because Hillary isn't on the ticket.

And?

The point is, those individuals will basically take themselves out of the election. They will choose to not represent themselves.

What will be left over will choose our next president.

Without Hillary on the ticket and with McSame representing the GOP, here are the groups who will stay home:

- Blue Dog Democrats
- DLC Democrats
- the Christian Reich
- Evangelicals
- Dixiecrats
- Women Dem voters over 50
- Veruca Salt
- Harriet Christian
- All of Appalachia

And? ... the problem with that?

I say let them stay home.

Here are the groups which will come out in droves and will choose our next president:

- Independents
- Youth
- Moderate Republicans
- Progressive Democrats
- Liberals
- Progressives in general
- African Americans
- Native Americans
- Hispanics

15. It would be a very successful register-to-vote and get-out-the-vote strategy----
for the GOP, that is.

Conservatives who had never bothered to either register to vote or vote would come out of the woodwork to register to vote, and vote against Hillary.

Not only that, they may like voting against her so much that they may show up for future elections to see if it is as much fun voting against other Democrats.

One of the many reasons Hillary should NOT be on a national election ticket, ever.

16. I agree ...
And I think a lot of other people do as well, judging by the vote on this little poll so far.

Maybe if this gets kicked enough we'll at least get a feel for how DU'rs think.

I really do believe this is the reality of it.

Any polls taken so far pitting Hillary vs. McSame is BS so far.

I can only imagine that any GOP'r out there who wants to face Hillary is saying as much positive shit about her to continue the effort to get her on the ticket.

That point taken, it would inflate any poll toward Hillary when you have a good chunk of the GOP pushing for her now.

I can assure everyone that if Hillary ever received the nomination that the polls would change on a fucking dime.

All the praise for Hillary from idiots like Pat Buchanan would go away. They would sprout horns and join together in one united evil laugh that would be heard from coast to coast.

Fellow Democrats need to realize that they're receiving a false reality that is being feed to them by the GOP. They want Hillary in there and they have been doing EVERYTHING to get Democrats to believe that she would be the best candidate for the GE.

It's a false reality. It's manufactured.

They know, beyond a shadow of a doubt, that the level of enthusaism for McSame is pathetic. He's as boring as a stick of fucking wood.

In this situation the GOP has found through extensive research that in the absence of enthusiasm for their candidate they must manufacture hate and fear to propel people to vote against the Democrat to get them to vote for their candidate.

They rely on putting the homosexual marriage issue on the ballot and social issues like it to get their people to the polls.

But relying solely on items like homosexual marriage and abortion isn't enough to win. They found that out in 2006.

They need viral hate, especially for this election.

They're also going up against a very real youth vote that is behind Obama. A youth vote that is actually having an affect on their elders. The youth are communicating with their parents, their coworkers, and their friends. Their passion is having an affect on other demographics.

Without Hillary on the ticket the Democratic Party will fully embrace the 50 State Strategy and the DLC 50%+1 crap goes out the door.

The table is reset and states that have been out of the question are up for grabs without Hillary on the ticket.

Our chances in November are much better without her.

18. However, with 36 M votes in the primaries, it is obvious that this ticket would win.
I don't think it is a very effective WH, however.

20. The primaries
Is a whole different animal.

There's a decent amount of people who are voting for Hillary as an Anti-Obama vote.

They just can't accept an African-American as a Democratic nominee.

These people will simply stay home during the GE.

Most important, all these Anti-Obama people won't run to the polls in the GE to cast their vote for an Obama/Clinton ticket.

Just because they cast their vote for Hillary in the primary, doesn't mean they'll vote for her as a Vice President when they have to face the evil black guy at the top of the ticket.

A lot of the people who were soooooo enthused w/ Hillary were really only enthused at telling the country that they didn't want Obama as their nominee.

I don't believe that same enthusiasm will translate to McSame votes. It will only translate to staying home if they're that hardcore about being afraid of change and the progressive block of the party taking over the executive branch.

Mark my words ... without Hillary the party will see the dawn of a new day.

39. I don't know about the GOP, but it'll depress the shit out of me.
One of the bigger reasons I'm an Obama supporter is that I want the party to distance itself from people like Clinton, especially since I would have a stomach-churning time voting for anyone who voted for Bush's fucking war and refuses to admit it was a mistake. Beating Hillary in the primaries and then offering her the VP slot would be like stepping in dog shit, getting your shoes cleaned, and then looking for the same pile to step in again.
