The night Obama/Clinton looked like a team
It happened once. It was the debate in Los Angeles prior to Super Tuesday. The acrimonious South Carolina debate had happened the week before, and then Edwards dropped out. This was our first look at Obama and Clinton alone on stage together and, I have to admit, the realization that we would make history with our nomination and the sight of the two of them together was moving.

The debate that night was more of a conversation, and it was probably the best of the season. There are substantive differences between these two, but they aren't ideological in nature. On domestic issues, they agree far more than they disagree. Barack's foreign policy philosophies are often fundamentally different, but as VP, Hillary would just have to go along with them.

Barack will be very careful about the running mate he chooses, and we should all respect his decision. Most of my concerns with picking Hillary center around Bill, his pathetic need to be in the limelight always, and the unanswered questions about his post-presidency which could dog any ticket with the Clinton name on it throughout the fall. I have been alternatively open and opposed to Hillary as VP, but, in the spirit of closing this phase of the campaign on a good note, it's worth remembering that one fine evening in Los Angeles.

6. He should take her
His followers plus hers will overwhelm the Repubs turnout this fall. The last thing you want is to have her not campaign heavily for him. On the ticket she has no choice, but off the ticket she will be thinking 2012. Be sure of it.

2. The very next day: "Shame on you..."
Maybe the most bizarre episode of the campaign.

4. That was later...after the debate in Texas
There were a lot of cringe-inducing moments, but these will have to be forgotten either way (whether she's on the ticket or not).

8. Yeah, I just looked it up.
Which debate was the "I'm really proud to be here...?"

I could have sworn the "Shame" incident fell on the heels of that comment.

Jarring as hell, I know. But life goes on.

Of course, the goal should have been to elect someone who will really bring change in Washington. Toss the lobbyists out on their butts. Put the insurance companies on notice. Undo the damage Bushco has left us with. Expose elected officials who are not doing right by their constituents.

Instead, so many have fallen in love with making history.

That isn't a good reason to vote for someone.

7. I remember that.
and the debate before that had been the explosive S. Carolina debate. Haha, I remember the pictures of them whispering to each other after the LA debate, those were cute.
