It's OVER. "Clinton Preparing Graceful Exit?"
After a day full of conflicting signals, Hillary Clinton's campaign seems to be sending clearer ones today -- that she will gracefully exit the stage and won't take her fight to the convention.

Clinton campaign chairman Terry McAuliffe said this morning that once Barack Obama reaches the majority of delegates, "I think Hillary Clinton will congratulate him and call him the nominee."

McAuliffe had been among those as late as Monday excoriating the Democratic National Committee rules committee's decision on the disputed Florida and Michigan delegates and reserving the right to appeal the ruling.

But on NBC's "Today" show this morning, he said, "I don't think she's going to go to the credentials committee."

And the New York Times reported today that Clinton is prepared to give what aides are calling a farewell speech tonight summing up her candidacy.

1. Wonder if Bill's latest little hissy fit was the final nail in the campaign's coffin?
I had the teevy on this morning and his self pitying snit seemed to be topic A of conversation on all the talking head channels.

2. Whatever the reason, it's time for the Clinton bashing and the Obama bashing to also be OVER.
It was a tough primary, now let's GO GET THE REPUBLICS!

3. How many times are we going to fall for this crap?
We all know what she is going to do. She is a Clinton. She will obfuscate and parse words. She will make teh most ambuguous "concession speech": you ever heard. It will be loaded with all teh bullshit "I actually won but the the system was loaded to favor Obama" arguments.

She will probably deliver this speech with a smile that superficially resembles a gracious exit, but if we pay attention to her words and not her style, we will hear the usual Clinton weasel wording.

It really shouldn't be this hard. "I congratulate Barack Obama for running an excellent campaign, for demonstrating real mastery of the process which has earned him the nomination and my unequivocal support. I am proud to have been part of this process that has energized America and put us on a path where we can win in sufficient numbers in November that we will be able to correct many of the fundamental problems that America faces today. As Senator from the great state of New York, I look forward to supporting President Obama for the next 8 years as together we build the America of the 21st Century that we all deserve."

That's the whole speech right there. That's all she needs to say.

6. That isn't cynical
It's foolish to believe that all is going to be sweetness and light after listening to Bill's little self pitying whine to that reporter last night. Especially the part where he blamed the Obama campaign for the crappy campaign Hillary ran. No way he can undo that thing. The true feelings are coming out and it doesn't paint the clinton's in a very favorable light.

7. Step 1 is Hillary to fix her attitude
Step 2 is for her to fix the attitude of her supporters.

She has a lot of work she still owes us.

9. It couldn't be any less graceful if she shits her pants.
This bullshit is why the party bosses should have shut her down weeks ago.
