Are any other Obama supporters going to be sad if/when Clinton concedes? |
|
Call me crazy, but as excited as I will be if Obama clinches the nomination tonight, I'm also going to be kind of sad to see Clinton drop out. I may even cry watching her give a concession speech. Even though she has made me mad at times this year I did idolize her growing up, and when she shows her softer side it tugs at my heartstrings a little.
I think part of it has to do with the historic nature of her candidacy. As a woman, I will admit that sometimes I feel guilty that the first woman with a real chance to become president wasn't my first choice for the nomination.
We had so many great candidates this year, and it was sad to see the others drop out and it will be sad to see her drop out too. I know how much those of you who support Clinton believe in her and have emotionally invested in her campaign and I am sorry that it has to end this way. We have so many passionate Democrats on both sides this year, and it is a shame that one side has to lose. I hope you'll be able to warm up to Obama and become as excited about his candidacy as I am, but I understand that it will take time and I respect that.
Am I the only Obama supporter here who feels like it's going to be a bittersweet victory tonight and feel a little sad to see her end her campaign (if she does), or are there others who feel the same way?

As happy as I'll be to see Obama clinch the nomination, I'm never happy to see anyone lose. I once had immense respect for Bill and Hillary Clinton. The very fact they existed at all made me feel a bit more secure in the world. Now, I find it only sad to see them go in terms of watching someone lose their dream.

I know how long this has been her dream and it is kind of sad to see it come to an end. I don't entirely fault those who feel resentful that Obama came out of nowhere and stole her thunder, though I disagree with those who say that she is losing because of sexism. She unfortunately misjudged the mood of the electorate, and Obama ran a hell of a campaign and defied all odds. While campaigning for Obama, I have talked to people who say they wish they could vote for both of them, and when Clinton shows her more human side and isn't attacking I find myself agreeing.

Hillary will no doubt be constantly planning how to steal this nomination. She won't even say that she will concede once Obama has enough delegates. She will no doubt be looking for an opportunity to swoop in and vulture this nomination away.

If she doesn't, then I'll have a different reaction.

20. ITA. We have to be constantly vigilant for her attempts to undermine... |
|
Obama and steal the election.
The calls for her to be VP are freaking delusional. Her goal as VP would be to undermine Obama so she can be the nominee in 2012. Our country would go through 4 years of turmoil.

That much in and of itself is a great thing, regardless of how one feels about Hillary Clinton.
But I just can't be sad about the end of BushClintonDLC. There will be another female candidate for President, and hopefully the next one will be better. And if that's the case, she will have my support.

I will wish her the best and I admire her very competitive spirit - but we gotta move on! I'll be more relieved then anything.
Obama has been the nominee for quite a while in my mind anyway.
My sincere wish and expectation is we can unite. There are many, many dedicated Dems among the Hillary faithful - and Obama needs them to win this fall.

Obama has had presidential moments on this campaign, when Hillary has gone kitchen sink. Big difference on leadership, temperament and what he has won.

I was actually very peeved about this. I think Hillary Clinton is a good person at heart who unfortunately surrounded her head with the worst people ever.
I think her advisors although extremely intellectual were all wrong and didn't know how to promote. The decisions she made in her word choice were poor (I speak solely in regards to promoting McCain and pushing this wrong vote count), I dislike the varied word play dynamics in which she turned out as many gaffes if not more as obama, and I just hated her dirty politics---which wasn't her fault.
It wasn't her fault all in all, however she did allow some of this to happen. I hate dirty politics and I felt her husband hurt her the most. After the first few times he messed with your campaign you get rid of him. I felt, beyond her dirty politics, that her husband helped her along the path of destruction especially lashing out at Obama for things that are completely out of his control.
Harold Ickes who's backed I felt was very aggressive in the way he sent out misinformation especially a person did not spend the 10 hours watching the program like I did, her nutty supporters (not all) are also to blame.
This is not to say Obama doesn't have problems of his called basically around TUCC, however the problems are more stacked up on her side since it's a combination of problems that hurt her cause while I really supported a female candidate. That's why I'm pushing more and more for an Obama/Sebelius ticket.

Hillary proposed "change" too when she first ran. But then she allowed Bill to organize her campaign team around the same old bunch that ran his campaigns and parsed and made excuses for him during his presidency - Lanny Davis, Ickes, McAuliffe, Carville. How could anyone credibly argue they are the "change" candidate with all those old hacks doing the talking? It also reminded people of all the baloney during Clinton's term and how often those guys were on the tube making excuses for him.
I believe that had she managed to put together a better team, maybe with more people like Debbie Wasserman-Schultz, who I thought was a very effective spokesperson, she probably would have won.
