Why She Won't Be Vice President |
|
Because it will always be about she and Bill and no president can be successful if he's always in the shadows. Even today when it is likely he may wrap up the nom, it's still all about her, her big show tonight, she may still take it to the credentials committee, she is going to bargain for what she wants. Since when is the loser in a position to make continual demands? Everyone is so afraid of treading on her feelings. What do they think she will do, take her ball and go home? I say, yes please.

1. Ironically, she offered Obama the VP spot when she was losing. |

4. I doubt that as it would be a step down from the Senate |

12. As Ted Kennedy showed, |
|
a person can have more long-term influence on the nation from the Senate, than most presidents ever have.
There are apparently two top Clinton aides hoping that she can be offered the VP slot. I do not think that will happen, but there are often surprises.
The offer of Health & Human Services would allow Clinton to work on the issues that have been of most importance to her throughout her career. Of course, it would not be an issue if McCain "wins," which might lead her to view the Senate as the best option for her to wait until 2012.
However, Obama will win, and then she will have a choice to make. I think that she will take the position. You are correct that it is generally considered a step down, but it is something that is important to her.

14. You Know, We Could Potentially Have 2 Women Running In 2016 |
|
Just on the dems side. There are several scenarios, whereby Obama puts 2 very qualified woman in cabinet positions and they decide to run. I recognize that the veep is usually the heir apparent but from here on out, it could be that anything goes. Wouldn't that be a campaign?

9. That Is A Very Cogent Point |

With Ron Burkle and all he wouldn't make it past the vetting process. Ironic isn't it, and rather sad.

6. The VP is a demotion from US Senator. She can do more as US Senator from NY. |
|
Some active US Senators may be chosen for an Obama cabinet. As close as the senate is or will be, it cannot afford to lose any more majority.
Gotta think beyond what happens after the nomination and the general election.

as if anyone cares. :)
Hillary Clinton should be promised a Supreme Court nomination. It would take her out of the political arena reducing Bill's political role to former President from former President who is out perpetually campaigning for his wife. He would have no insider status in the Administration.
Hillary would be someplace where she could make decisions without worrying about how tough she looks for an upcoming election. Hopefully that would allow her to regain some perspective and make reasoned, rather than politically expedient, arguments.
I think even Bill would be careful not to screw around with the confirmation process, and the Clintons could regain some of the respect this campaign has cost them.

13. She's unqualified to be president, and therefore unqualified to be VP. |
|
She lacks all the qualities needed in a VP. Not loyalty. Not trustworthy. Not willing to submit to the president and his agenda. Not clean enough. Not Democrat enough. NOT NOT NOT acceptable.

17. The VP is NOT a step down unless you are looking at a twenty year career. It is a step closer ... |
|
to president. The office gets the respect earned by the holder from the President which will then be reflected by the media and the people.
