...if John King would stop making love to the damn things all night long every time there's a vote. It's like the man has OCD or something, he just can't stop fondling that damn touchscreen.

40. That is one of their advantages
I remember during the Potomac Primaries this was most evident. FOX News had Karl Rove and Brit Humes sitting at a desk with Karl Rove's hand-drawn map of Virginia. Meanwhile John King was pulling up the Google Earth map and zooming in on different landmarks. MSNBC kind of joined the game a little bit late, but are doing fairly well with Chuck Todd's maps now.

4. I've never seen Beck on CNN's election coverage team
For me this poll is effectively Blitzer vs Matthews, and I can not stand Matthews.

10. I take the stations as a whole. To me you can't separate Beck from CNN.
Not even for election coverage. To tolerate Beck for the sake of a marginally better elections presenter (and that's debatable) is to lift up an organization that supports hatespeech.

Ok, but that was not the question in the poll
If the question was, which network is better, there would be an argument there. The question was simply which had better election coverage. I took a fairly narrow interpretation of that question and assumed it meant the actual coverage teams. Kind of like comparing CBS and ESPN in football coverage, I prefer ESPN as a network, but CBS has better play-by-play coverage than does ESPN.

25. Sorry if you felt I was attacking your opinion.
I certainly did not intend to do so. Not only to I find Beck vile and unwatchable, but most of CNN's primetime lineup is unwatchable to me (Lou Dobbs and Larry King for example). And while I prefer CNN's specials (Amanpour etc) to the "Dateline" specials that dominate MSNBC, neither the specials or the primetime shows came into my consideration of this poll. I guess what I am saying is not that I disagree with your opinions of MSNBC or CNN, just that I read the question differently and was answering the question as I saw it. Again, sorry if you were offended.

26. Yea, it is shallow and it furthers the stereotype that
being gay is all about sex.

You can obviously do what you want, but your 8th grade-like attitude makes it more difficult to convince straight America that gay is not all about screwing.

That perception interferes with the advancement of gay human rights.

31. OMG.
Fine I will no longer think AC is hot. I will wear nothing but grey and black I would not want heteros to be upset because they see a queer in pink. I can just talk about me I do not represent our community and I do not believe our community is all about sex. We can still say someone is hot. Next time you read a post by a straight man talking about how hot some woman is tell him he is making the hetero community look like it is all about sex.

Hugs and kisses.

34. :eyes: -- There's nothing wrong with thinking "AC is hot."
Did you read your original post?

You insinuated that you chose CNN entirely because you think Cooper is hot.

And if that's not the only reason, you should have said, "plus Anderson Cooper is hot", so people don't think that was the only shallow reason.

You may think it's hilarious ccharles, but I bust my ass working, along with lots of other people, to help make sure the LGBT population will some day enjoy equal human rights.

And I don't appreciate anyone getting in our way. Gay or straight.

37. ...
What if I did pick CNN because of AC and the way he looks. I don't see any difference in the major news stations and I am not getting in the way of GLBT rights. I am a little shallow and I am gay so there is at least one gay person who is shallow. It does not matter what straight people think of me or my community if they don't like us because we are gay than they can go fuck themselves.

41. Yea, tell them to go fuck themselves as they attempt
to decide whether or not to approve constitutional amendments banning marriage, or overturn Don't Ask Don't Tell and the Defense of Marriage Act.

That's okay ccharles...I'll fight for your rights while you sleep all day on the couch.

But then again, perhaps the shallowness you admit to is a sign you don't give a shit whether much of society throughout the world considers you a second class citizen.

Unreal.

Granted, MSNBC does have its bright spots, like Olbermann, but it also has those endless damned prison shows and To Catch A Predator and such, and they constantly have Pat Buchanan spewing garbage on the air. They're not even close to an ideal news source.

That said, they're better than the Conservative News Network.
