Dear America, Thank You.
Today I'd like to offer a great tribute to the country we live in. Our free speech has not been muffled and our passions are allowed to run uninhibited. This was a primary for the ages and in my short lifetime I can say I have had my eyes opened.

Less than a year ago, as a young independent I was drawn to this election because of the opportunity afforded to us as all citizens...the ability to vote. I have never been as interested in American politics as I have today. Through this process I have enjoyed countless hours of news, debates, and understanding policies. Most of all I have begun to hope for something better for our country. As an Asian-American I have experienced racism and ugliness in this country.

I know this has been a long and hard primary where I have fluctuated between hate and anger to understanding and hope. I admit that some people are crazy and that both sides of Clinton and Obama are guilty of the same sins. But I hold on to an ideal that as Americans we are called to voice our concerns, to justify our actions, and to fully inform ourselves whether it is right or not. Don't be angry that so many have voted for Clinton or Obama. We are lucky to live in such a transparent society in which (whether good or bad) everything is magnified, even our emotions and flaws.

I want to appeal that whether you are a Clinton/Obama/McCain/Barr supporter let's fight for the future of this country. Regardless of who YOU want to win, focus on changing what we need to do. This war is wrong, people are starving, people cannot get medical care in our great country. Don't self-serve your desires just to sacrifice the bigger picture.

TO CLINTON SUPPORTERS, you are entirely justified in your positions and your support of your candidate. No one should fault you for that and don't stand down for what you believe. Please remember that we ALL want what's best for our country. Faults and injustice is a reality of life but we cannot let it HOLD US BACK.

TO OBAMA SUPPORTERS, be gracious in winning. This discussion board is just that... not a definitive fact. This forum is a valuable resource for everyone to contribute to and even those who don't like our candidate. Even if Obama chooses Clinton to be VP, we must accept that because she is a legitimate bearer of our democratic votes.

TO ALL AMERICANS, it's time to not join together not just for the sake of unity... it's for the sake of our future, our children and to teach the world what it means to be RESPECTFUL of DIVERSITY. We make this country work, not the politicians or the government. Be PROUD of your right to vote and fight when you need to fight, lay down when you need to lay down.

Go Obama. You have won fairly and respectfully, lead this party with the power of the people. Clinton, I hope you work hard for the Dem party and represent the best of America.

2. Well said
I would add a suggestion to Clinton supporters--go to work for local candidates. They need your support as much (and sometimes more so) as national candidates do, and they are often surprised and grateful to get it. Working with local Democrats on local issues can give you a feeling of really accomplishing things, really being a part of getting something done.

5. That is very good advice.
I'm lukewarm toward both Clinton and Obama, but I am absolutely passionate about my candidate for the U.S. House, Diane Benson. I think we can all make significant contributions this November, even if the presidential candidates leave us somewhat unsatisfied.

9. Thanks, i've been lurking for quite awhile...
There are a lot of unity posts that have been posted but still a lot of disagreeable content. I can understand their pain and sentiment since both sides feel they have been wronged. I'm very excited about a new general election... I think it's gonna be a good one, I doubt McCain has a chance though.
