Poll question: Will this be your first General Election without a Bush or Clinton on the ballot?
Edited on Tue Jun-03-08 01:16 PM by newmajority
My first general election vote was 1984. This will be the first GE I will vote in without a Bush or Clinton on the ballot. And it's about damn time.

How about you, DU'ers?

6. Your years are off by one. I was born in 1962 and voted for Carter in 1980.
And I'd do it again.

15. I am assuming he is counting GHW Bush as VP
But that still makes the years off. Being born in 1962 would have you be 18 in time for the 1980 election, but the last non Bush or Clinton election by this measure is 1976 and that should be the focus. Someone born in 1959 would have been 17 in 1976 and therefore unable to vote, so November 1958 should really be the cutoff.

7. Unfortunately, I came of voting "age" just AFTER the Nixon years.....Sigh!
I voted for Carter...I'll never truly accept the Reagan take over. It was a huge disappointment! (And, I worked for Walter Mondale during the Reagan campaign!)

Edited on Tue Jun-03-08 01:20 PM by papapi
I was eighteen years old and it was the first time eighteen year olds could vote. Voting age was 21 before that.

I might add that I have a very good feeling about this election. This hasn't always been so when voting Democratic.

10. My first GE was 2000... I became a citizen in 1998
so I was very excited to cast for Gore... but there was George

I moved to the states in 1984...

Of course I could tell you how I feel about elections these days and how much my vote really counts... not for much... but I will still vote and participate in the process, as much as I know in my gut it is rigged

The same reason I voted in Mexico... never mind it didn't count there either

Yes, call me Mrs Cynical!

But 6 months ago, everyone was calling her "inevitable" and assuming a quick coronation in February.

Thank God that party was cancelled. :)

12. GHW Bush was on the ballot in 1980, so you'd have to have been born by 1958, not 1962, to ...
... vote in an election that didn't feature a Bush or a Clinton.

22. I was born in 1950 I've only voted in ONE GE without one of them on the ballot
in honestly thought, it was the Bushes who ran 6 times and Clinton only 2.

It's the Bushes who have been dominating GEs.

27. Those were the "lost years"
Elvis was in the army....Buddy Holly died......Jerry Lee Lewis married his 13 year old cousin.....Chuck Berry got locked up, and the charts were taken over by crap like Fabian and Pat Boone.

Nah seriously, sorry about that. No disrespect intended.

I celebrate the end of the Bush family's run. Bill Clinton was a good President.

And I did not support Hillary during this primary, but would have if she would have won the primary.
