MSNBC: Hillary Clinton says she's open to being Barack Obama's running mate.
She told New York lawmakers this today.

More fun, fun, fun.

Hillary, my friend. Can you show some genuine support for Obama before you expect to be asked?

20. So would I. I was originally an Edwards supporter, and he continually
outpolled all other Dems against McCain. I think that ticket would be unstoppable. However, I don't think John is interested. I think he'd prefer a cabinet position.

18. And I'm sure she is on the short list of teh Obama team
And his number crunchers, who have proven to be the best the business has ever seen, will do the number crunching. If it makes the most sense to have her on the ticket, she'll be the Veep.

23. I'm open to it, also.
I've got a couple of nice suits, and I know how to behave at funerals. I'd consider the salary a blessing, and I have no aspirations for higher office.

Add that stuff up, and I'm perfect for the job. Ready from day one, baby!

31. Context of statement below:
WASHINGTON - Hillary Clinton has told congressional colleagues she would be open to becoming Barack Obama's vice presidential nominee, saying she would consider it if it would help Democrats win the White House.

Clinton, a New York senator, made the comment on a conference call with other New York lawmakers Tuesday, according a participant on the call.

The senator's remarks came in response to a question from Democratic Rep. Nydia Velazquez who said she believed the best way for Obama to win over key voting blocs, including Hispanics, would be for him to choose Clinton as his running mate.

"I am open to it," Clinton replied, if it would help the party's prospects in November.

34. I don't see why people are attacking her over this. It's just a statement.
"Consider" is different from "Want" in being VP. And there's the caveat "if it would help Democrats in November." I'm not a Hillary defender, but this is silly.

36. It is silly.
Edited on Tue Jun-03-08 03:02 PM by Lone_Star_Dem
It was said during a conference call with other New York lawmakers. One of the lawmakers decided to toss it out there to feed the rumor mill. Many of her political supporters have been tossing the idea out wherever they get the chance.

What was she supposed to have said? That she refuses to consider being the VP candidate on Obama's ticket? That would have went over like a Led Zeppelin for sure.
