I just had the most wonderful dream
I do not dream often, and it started out kind of odd.

My father had somehow gotten tickets to the RNC convention, and he drug my Mom and I along, because none else in the family was even the slightest bit interested. So we go. Imagine a nice breezy convention center, lots of out door walks and such. I have no idea what it will really look like, but make it the best of all possible convention weather.

The first afternoon, Dick Cheney is giving a speech in one of the halls, and my dad wants to go see it. So I go with him, out of morbid curiosity. As it turns out, the hall is big enough for thousands(think a mega church sized hall) but the people who Show are in the hundreds. Lots of empty seats. MY dad sits way out to the right of the area, and I sit away from him on the right wall, not many people near me.

As it turns out, Dick prepared a speech intended to leave lots of time for clapping and cheering, and with such a small audience, he runs out of words long before time is up. So he sends Condi out into the audience with a Mic, to give the people the chance to speak adoring words about him. Miraculously, they choose me, about number 7.

I take the opportunity to briefy, Speak my Piece. Short, to the point, polite, and damning. The fact they are an illegitimate regime, and guilty of crimes against humanity. Fortunately, with such a small number of people, the few who are close enough to do anything are too stunned to move until I am done speaking, at which point there is nothing to be done. Cheney and Condi just stand, jaws dropped while I depart the room of my own free will, and the meeting is ended on that note.

I walk out, knowing that I am going on all sorts of watch lists in the very near future, but I Don't Care, because they will become irrelevant in a short time, with the new Democratic administration.

I could go into much more detail, but that is the gist of it.

I woke up feeling awesome. Today is the day I feel the clouds breaking. I feel free again in my own country. I can now realistically see the potential for my country to be what all those civics and history classes sold me that it is.
