1. Maxine Waters switches to Obama - also add Edwards delegates
from demconwatch:

Obama Announces Support from Edwards Pledged Delegates

By Sam Graham-Felsen - Jun 3rd, 2008 at 5:12 pm EDT

CHICAGO, IL—The Obama Campaign today announced that the following delegates pledged to former Senator John Edwards have committed to vote for Senator Obama at the Democratic National Convention. With today’s announcement, every delegate pledged to Senator Edwards in Iowa (four delegates), New Hampshire (four delegates) and South Carolina (eight delegates) will be voting for Senator Obama at the National Convention. In addition, 10 of the 13 Edwards delegates from Florida will be voting for Senator Obama at the National Convention.

The updated roster adds ten delegates today to Obama’s delegate total, raising it to 2,099.5 and leaving the campaign only 18.5 delegates away from clinching the nomination at 2,118.

That's a big venue...should be a great speech.

For the first time, I just might not turnoff Hillary midstream into a speech...usually 'pre-stream' ... might prove interesting to analyze.

104. Locke, a Clinton co-chair, now backs Obama (WA)
http://blog.seattletimes.nwsource.com/davidpostman/2008/06/locke_a_clinton_cochair_now_backs_obama.html
Former Gov. Gary Locke told Seattle Times reporter Ralph Thomas this afternoon that he has switched his support to Barack Obama. Locke was one of three co-chairmen on the Clinton campaign here. We're waiting to hear from Ron Sims and Jay Inslee.

It’s clear that the primary contest is over. Sen. Obama has done an incredible job of inspiring and energizing voters. We need to bring this to an end. We can not wait. This can not go to the convention. It’s time for us all to rally around Sen. Obama.

We should and must rally around him. I am very proud to support Sen. Obama.

Locke said he's not worried about the long, bitter primary fight. In fact, he thinks it will help Obama because it fired up the Democratic base, brought in a lot of new voters and given a lot more exposure to key Democratic issues such as health care, the environment and the economy.

The Democrats have had the luxury of two incredibly outstanding candidates.

109. DCCC Chair Van Hollen Endorses Obama

DCCC Chair Van Hollen Endorses Obama

By Greg Sargent - June 4, 2008, 10:00AM

Chris Van Hollen, the chair of the DCCC, breaks his neutrality and endorses Barack Obama, explicitly naming him as the party's nominee.

From a statement his office sent over...

"Our nominee Barack Obama is inspiring millions of Americans to register to vote and go to the polls. In November, voters will have a clear choice between Barack Obama's real change versus John McCain's status quo as he runs for a third Bush term...
"I congratulate Senator Barack Obama. He is an exceptional leader who continues to inspire the entire nation with his message of change. I look forward to working with him during this campaign and as our next President."

The question now is how long it will take other party leaders (Harry Reid, Nancy Pelosi) to use the word "nominee" to describe Obama.

Van Hollen's full statement after the jump.

"Over these past five months, we have seen the Democratic presidential nominating contests energize our Party and bring record numbers of new Democrats into the political process. This record enthusiasm has already helped to grow our Majority in Congress through three straight special election wins. Our momentum will continue to move the Democratic Party toward our goal of winning the White House and expanding our Majorities in Congress.
"The enthusiasm, new voters, and Americans' demand for change has clearly expanded the playing field for House Democrats this fall. Our nominee Barack Obama is inspiring millions of Americans to register to vote and go to the polls. In November, voters will have a clear choice between Barack Obama's real change versus John McCain's status quo as he runs for a third Bush term.

"I congratulate Senator Hillary Clinton on her outstanding and groundbreaking campaign. She will continue to be a tremendous asset in uniting our Party, electing a Democrat president and helping to grow our Majority in the House.

"I congratulate Senator Barack Obama. He is an exceptional leader who continues to inspire the entire nation with his message of change. I look forward to working with him during this campaign and as our next President."

111. Undeclared senators move to Obama

Undeclared senators move to Obama

By J. Taylor Rushing

Posted: 06/04/08 11:03 AM

Several undeclared Democratic senators announced Wednesday that they will officially back Sen. Barack Obama (D-Ill.) as their party’s presidential nominee.

“The nominee of our party is Barack Obama. That’s clear,” said Sen. Tom Harkin (D-Iowa), who called the meeting and said a statement would be released by 1 p.m. Harkin said he did not know how many senators would join the statement.

Harkin, Tom Carper of Delaware, Ken Salazar of Colorado, Mary Landrieu of Louisiana and Barbara Boxer of California met for an hour this morning.

All uncommitted Senate Democrats were invited, but only those five senators were seen entering the meeting. Aides said Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) was invited but was not attending.

Senators said the meeting was about unifying the party after the long and often contentious primary battle between Obama and Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton (D-N.Y.). The Illinois senator last night reached the number of delegates needed to clinch the nomination. Salazar stated that Obama is the presumptive nominee and that the contest “has already been brought to a close.”

112. Two key Washington Democrats who supported Clinton tells party to back Obama

Two key Washington Democrats who supported Clinton tells party to back Obama

Posted by The Associated Press June 04, 2008 07:01AM

Two of Washington state's top Hillary Clinton supporters switched their allegiance to presumptive Democratic nominee Barack Obama on Tuesday, pushing for unity as Democrats prepared to finally launch their national campaign against Republican John McCain.

The announcements from King County Executive Ron Sims -- who's also a superdelegate -- and former Gov. Gary Locke were somewhat anticlimactic, coming hours after The Associated Press projected Obama's nominating margin.

But Sims' and Locke's decisions to back Obama were still significant: The two were co-chairmen of Clinton's Washington state campaign, and their statements sent a strong signal that all Democrats should line up behind the Illinois senator's campaign for the White House.

In an interview with the AP, Sims expressed his fondness for Clinton and said watching her vigorous Tuesday night speech brought a smile to his face. But by that time, Sims had already informed both campaigns that his superdelegate vote would be cast for Obama at the national convention.

"I believe it's important to take back the White House," said Sims, the state's highest-ranking black elected official. "I think Sen. Obama is an excellent candidate as well, and can bring the excitement and enthusiasm that can change the politics in the United States."
