please, please say it isn't so. Better to be a goodwill ambassador for Obama than a divider of our party. That is the bottom line. If the Supers figure that is the way we win in November, so be it.

What is the opposite of "I got your back"? Oh I know, "Watch your back!"

Barack Obama and Michelle Obama are way too smart to do something so stupid. I think it is going to be Richardson. Hispanic, statesman, and they trust each other.

41. Isee hillry as a lightning rod for the right.
I am worried the other 30% might come out for McCain. That's just my thoughts. I have no evidence that is what would happen, but I have to admit it worries me.

My other concern is it presents an contradiction in his message of change. Rarely have candidates picked a VP from their field of competitors.

Kerry Did
Bush did not
Gore Did not
Clinton did not
Dole did not
Bush I did not
Dukakis did not
Reagan did
Carter did not
Ford did not
etc..

There isn't a real precedent for doing so, and I am not personally keen on a double Senator ticket. If Clinton got the nod, I would not have been for a Clinton/Obama ticket either.

20. How presumptive and I am open to Hillary but this type of pushing the nominee out of the
way on his day of victory is really churlish and unsettling.

If Hillary Clinton can't allow Obama to have his victory then how can she sit back and let him be President and follow his lead.

I think you reflect HRC's interest exactly and it makes me less open to this nightmare.

47. I think Sen. Clinton would push her mother out of the way at this point.
She's the 'old' school of Washington,D.C. Sen. Obama doesn't need her baggage. The repukes would play back for us all the disparaging comments she has made about Sen.Obama throughout this campaign.

The scenario I could see is this: Hillary is added to the ticket and it loses. Then in 2012 she runs again while blaming Obama for the 2008 loss because he was at the top of the ticket. imho

43. Wrong. Hillary adds no democrats to the voting base, but loses
huge numbers of independents and crossover republicans who would otherwise vote for Obama. Also, her being on the ticket would galvanize the republican base which is less than enthusiastic about McCain, turning them out to vote against the Dem ticket.

It would be an unmitigated disaster.

But she wouldn't care - she knows her career is over, and she would happily drag down the guy who ended it.

30. What fallout? From whom?
She's lost. She doesn't get to dictate terms. Her supporters, if they are actually Democrats, will back the nominee. He only looks weak by caving to pressure to put her on the ticket, and she brings nothing. There may be a fanatical core of rabid Clintonites who won't vote for him without her on the ticket, but they are few in comparison to those who will unite to vote against four more years of failed policy.

You caon't beat Repubs using Repub talking points and framing. Given that she had the money, the name recognition and 150 superdelegates before a single vote had even been cast, it takes a whole new level of FAIL in order to lose.

That's the name Burkel and his friends made up for his party plane. I couldn't even make that up. Classy huh?

http://www.americablog.com/2008/05/slate-rumors-of-more-monicas.html

Pages 103 and 104: Clinton and Ron Burkle, the supermarket magnate, have been buddies since 1992. Felsenthal repeats the old rumor that "Burkle and Clinton are … partners in philandering." She also quotes an unnamed source alleging that "Burkle and Clinton spend time together doing things that Hillary would not want made public" and reports that Burkle calls his private plane "Fuck Jet."

Explain why putting someone whose polling nevatives have a BOTTOM of 45%, who is viewed as untrustworthy by nearly two-thirds of the electorate, who is a divisive and polarising figure whose presence on the ticket will ensure Republicans who don't like McCain turning out to vote AGAINST her, who alienates independents, guarantees victory. Could you lay that out for me? Because I just don't see it.

It doesn't look like it.

And--what of Bill Clinton's post-presidential business deals, his undisclosed library donors, his less-than-savoury private life? These are all important considerations in selecting a VP; why does picking Clinton either make sense or guarantee victory? I am asking an honest question, and your only response is cowardly evasion. 74. I think it has more positives than negatives
I offered my opinion of some choices here:

Clark would also be reasonable, but I prefer Edwards as a Presidential candidate.

78. I'd Love Biden.
For the life of me I still can't figure out why he never grew any legs during the early stages of the primaries. I thought in the early debates, he outshined the rest by a mile. That's one smart and capable cookie right there.

If it was just Hillary I'd be a bit more open to it. With the two candidates being pretty even on policy, the person I was voting against this Primary season was not Hillary, it was the guys in my subject line.

I mean, do I really want Begala and Carville speaking for this administration for the next 8 years?

56. Obama's first exercise of power
should be to drop the hammer on Clinton. She either gets in line and keeps her ambition under wraps or pays the price for not doing so. The time for worrying about hurt feelings is over. Time to get to work on taking back the presidency.

Hillary was narcissistic, shameless, classless, treacherous.............

Only a few hours ago I wrote a post urging people to understand that Hillary is really not so bad and perhaps she wouldn't be that bad of a V.P.nominee:

I really hope that doesn't happen. I prefer the idea of supreme court justice for Hillary - or some other cabinet position, since that, obviously can't happen immediately.

101. Does she want it?
There's some compelling math here. Between the two, 35 million Americans have already voted for one or the other. Assuming that supporters from both sides would vote for the combined ticket, that's a whole mess of votes. And it's enough to make Ohio and Florida and possibly Virgina and Missouri on the Democratic side -- it's hard to argue with a potential landslide. There would have to be some pretty compelling reason to say no to her, assuming she wants the gig.
