"Hi. I'm Stanley," she said, rolling her eyes. "My dad wanted a boy."

And then Stanley would have a boy. And, one day, he would win the Democratic nomination for President of the United States

Congratulations, and thank you, Stanley. You did so well.

9. Go Barack...but, honestly, the gist of this thread makes me want to cry....
Wow! I can't imagine a father being that blunt with a daughter! My husband always "appreciated" males BEFORE my daughter was born. Now he's her biggest advocate!!! I am counting my blessings right now!

22. Wow! I guess......
Barack is an exceptional human. His mother and grandparents did a tremendous job raising him...but some comes from within too.

Anyway, my appreciation to Stanley and her parents...we've got a fine candidate for president of the United States!

14. "This ain't no picnic for me either, buster"
That line from her to him invokes the image of her resolve.

She would be one proud mom today.

Congratulations, mother Stanley. A job well done! Well done indeed.

16. Man, I wish she was here today
And then I'd invite Harriet Christian to repeat what she said, to her face.

But most of all I just wish she was here today.

learn more about her and realize the she was had a huge impact on Barack and his outlook on life! If they would just put their energy behind him and see what his Mother's influence in him did for his values, then they would be more able I believe to see the true impact he will have in the White House for women's rights! It will be VERY good for women when he is President! And let's not forget the other women in his life, his wife and grandmother!
