Why Hillary will not get the VP spot
http://tpmelectioncentral.talkingpointsmemo.com/2008/03/hillary_mccain_has_crossed_com.php

“I think that since we now know Sen. McCain will be the nominee for the Republican Party, national security will be front and center in this election. We all know that. And I think it’s imperative that each of us be able to demonstrate we can cross the commander-in-chief threshold,” the New York senator told reporters crowded into an infant’s bedroom-sized hotel conference room in Washington.

“I believe that I’ve done that. Certainly, Sen. McCain has done that and you’ll have to ask Sen. Obama with respect to his candidacy,” she said.

Calling McCain, the presumptive GOP nominee a good friend and a “distinguished man with a great history of service to our country,” Clinton said, “Both of us will be on that stage having crossed that threshold."

Why on earth would Obama make her VP after a statement like that? It just doesn't make any sense. And based on how brilliant his campaign has been, there is no reason to think he would make such a giant blunder. The Republicans are going to use this quote whether Hillary is the VP nominee or not, and if she is it will be that much more embarrassing.

An Obama-Clinton ticket is a purely inside the beltway media fantasy. It is not going to happen.

1. 'Why Hillary probably will not ACCEPT the VP spot'
I doubt she wants to play second fiddle.

2. Exactly!
Constant TV ads by the republicans with Hillary saying things like this is not how you win a race, and Obama is not that crazy.

4. Tom Brokow just laid this out in its purest form: The Clintons will not allow themselves to be
fully vetted, nor would they pass such scrutiny. And I believe this seasoned journalist might know just a bit more than the people here who are screaming sour grapes and MUST HAVE VP NOW. It is NOT going to happen, not in this lifetime.

And Hillary.. Bill..

5. And Brokaw is right
Great pic btw. Obama's got a Samuel Jackson-like look on his face there. Way cool.

10. OK
If that's the case, the Obama should offer it to her, let her decline, and then we'll all be one happy family.

18. Nor would the Clintons submit to the discipline of someone else's campaign.

6. did anyone see Clinton advisor Lisa Caputo on MSNBC?
It was like she was taken through a de-spin machine, and now she is all about the VP sell. She said that the math just wouldn't add up for Clinton, and talked about all of the constituencies that Clinton would add to the ticket. I thought that we would be free of Clinton surrogates (well, the Terry, Howard types)-or at least get a little vacation from them- but I feel like they'll all be on the media tour for the next couple of months.

15. yeah, I heard a couple other surrogates, but this is the first time
I've heard one of her advisors finally come out and say it.

One interesting thing Tim Russert said was that he talked to one Obama supporter who had said "We thought it would be about us finally focusing on John McCain and the general election, and deal with repairing our relationship with Hillary Clinton and forging democratic unity. But it is still going to be a three person chess game, with John McCain going after Hillary's demographic groups, and Hillary using them as leverage."

7. The GOP has promised to use it. This will be awkward, but she's not right for VP.
Whatever she brings TO the table, she also brings incredibly high negative ratings that will motivate the GOP. Obama MUST run as a change candidate, and she would continue a Bush-Clinton being on the ticket for 28 years (!). She would be running as a candidate for 2016 the whole time, triangulating like crazy. Bill has baggage, to say the least.

Many of her supporters might vote for the ticket, but visit the Hillary sites - it ain't pretty, believe me. Many will move to McCain now.

I think she would take the slot in a heartbeat. I hope he can figure out a way to put her somewhere else. Get her in the Majority Leader slot, put her on the Supreme Court. Make Bill ambassador to the U.N. Anything, but NOT VP. It wouldn't be a good working relationship. To say the VERY least.

8. She is desperate now
and Bill is desperate for any sort of crack at getting back into the WH. The vultures will take the VP slot if it's offered. Trust. The picture below says a lot. Read the body language. Read his facial expression and hers.

16. The problem I see
Is if this were to happen, the Republican party could use this to demonstrate Obama as being a "push-over". That he can be pushed into making a decision. And try to coorelate that with him possibly being pushed around by leaders of terrorists nations, etc.
