Did you ever wish you could take something back?
Did you ever wish you could take back something you had said... or done?
Did you ever wish you had made another decision other than the one you made?
Did you ever wish you hadn't taken someone's advice that you instinctively knew was wrong, but you took it?
Did you ever wish that you had listened to your own inner voice instead of someone yapping in your ear?
Did you ever wonder if you were a surrogate for your husband's ambitions and that you had held him off and held his people off?

Did you ever want something so badly that you would do almost anything for it?
Did you ever feel like you lost yourself and were only a mirror of others' ambitions?

Have any of us failed at something or lost something on the national and global stage?
I doubt we have and I doubt we would ever want to.

There is a lady out there tonight, a good woman, an accomplished woman, who is having to deal with a personal loss in a spotlight...who is looking around her wondering who she can really trust. Who is questioning what went wrong. Who is the one being blamed for everything. Who is the one who carried the hopes and dreams of many people. And she is probably listening to lots of folks who are telling her what she should have done or could have done...including Bill...

She could do something in the next few days that pisses the hell out of me but right now I am sympathizing with someone who had an enormous burden to carry... the hopes, dreams and ambitions of people who couldn't pull it off themselves and left it all to her.

Hillary needs a good rest. She needs to reconnect with herself. If she has half the substance I think she has, she will go on and do very great things.

As much as this whole ordeal has been...well, an ordeal, an obnoxious ordeal for all of us, I really hope she will find a good path for herself.

1. And today was her mother's 86th birthday.
Edited on Wed Jun-04-08 07:31 PM by WilliamPitt
Not likely she was going to concede today...and it must not have been a very nice birthday party, you gotta figure.

2. yes. And I
appreciate the mercy and human compassion you express so well in your post.

I'm an Obama supporter from the beginning, but a human being when all is said and done.

Thank you for this important reminder-

:hi:
peace~

3. You are right...
...but she's not the first person to lose a primary - and I know it was very, very close and I know she dipped into her own personal finances to keep it going (Obama couldn't have if the roles were reversed) and with all the experience she keeps touting - how does she not know when to be gracious in defeat?

5. as in all things in life...one must, at some time, maybe later than sooner...
look into the mirror, look at the person staring back, and ask,

"What have I become? Where am I, where are my hopes and dreams? Where are those things I truly cherished? Am I all I want to become? Have I been who I wanted to be?"

Many of us may never have the strength to have that conversation with ourselves. I would like to think that Hillary has come to a point where she has the strength AND the wherewithal to take stock of herself, and possibly recapture the goals she has nurtured for 30 years or more...before the Presidency became the moth's flame. Her future may be a path of achievements born out of defeat.

I hope. She has it in her. She can be good for America.

Yeah, I can find a little sympathy for her.

7. Well, Al Gore took a worse beating and rose like a phoenix.
It is my wish that Hillary focuses on the issues that affect women, children, and the GLBT community. She really shines when she's working to find power for other people rather than seeking it for herself.

You're very sweet, Raven.

10. Took him a while to do it though
You really didn't hear much from Al between that dark day in December 2000, and when he resurfaced with a beard in 2002. Fortunately for him, he could take the time off. Hillary's a sitting senator, and she's probably pissed off a lot of her colleagues.

My personal feelings about the way she ran this campaign all aside, I wouldn't want to be in her shoes when she returns to DC.

17. I think she'll be fine when she returns to DC.
It's all a game to those politicians, anyway. That's why Nancy "impeachment-is-off-the-table" Pelosi can still wander around the Congressional halls without being treated like a pariah.

9. You're right. Unfortunately, she wasn't able to get past her feelings and do the "right" thing.
I hope she comes to terms with her loss quickly so she can help us defeat McCain!

Edited on Wed Jun-04-08 08:09 PM by TexasObserver
I'm not so kind when I think someone has selfishly used racism, sexism and wedge issues to promote herself. In my view, she has all the antipathy coming. She created it by her conduct.

16. I'm assuming that many of us who have waded through
the cesspool of GD/P over the last several months can relate. I for one trust that Hillary will distance herself from the lunatic fringe of her campaign that led her down the wrong path so many times (c-ya t-mac, wolfson and penn). She is an assett to the party and the country and I wish her well....

Some of her supporters on the other hand, not so much;)

18. Who hasn't?
Not to the magnitude that she's facing, but we've all questioned our personal choices and bore the burden of those choices. I can feel empathy for what she's going through. Even if my life has not been as public nor had the massive burden of that many people depending on me.

I have a gut feeling that you won't be feeling pissed at her in the next few days. My gut is telling me the right people are now getting her attention and her choices will end up reflecting their counsel.
