Does anyone else think Obama refused to cut deals with Hillary and Edwards? |
|
Maybe the reason it took so long for Edwards and now Hillary to support Obama is that he refused to cut deals with them. Maybe he told them they have to support him on Obama's terms, not theirs, because the train is leaving the station and you want to be on board.

1. IF that is true, it'd be funny... |
|
But I don't think that was what happened with Edwards.

6. Ummm...its not some grand conspiracy theory. |
|
It makes sense. What took Edwards so long? What took Hillary so long? Maybe they weren't getting the kind of commitments they wanted out of Obama, whether its a spot on the ticket or something else.

7. A couple of weeks before Edwards dropped out |
|
It was reported, his people were trying to cut some deal with Obama that he wouldn't go along with, whatever it was. I don't have more details, unless I remember where I read it, but this was reported within days of Edwards dropping out. So maybe.

9. Train analogies. Has anyone scouted out the tracks ahead? |

Given the ride thus far, I have my fears about the terrain ahead.

to beat the Clinton Machine. No reason for you to have any fears if you stop being so partisan about it.

16. Obama courted Edwards... |
|
Obama wants to work on working class voters, so my bet is that a deal has been cut. I think that's a good thing.
As for Hillary, no, I don't think the deals have even started. They've finally settled on talking, but a date has not been set.
You can bet a deal will be cut, but I don't think it will be any VP deal. She might get a cabinet post offer, though I tend to think she'd turn it down. She might get a supreme court appointment offer, but I'm pretty darned sure she'd turn that down, because the Clintons love press, and justices are suppose to avoid the media.
Right now, I'm back to being pretty optimistic. We've avoided the icebergs, and as long as Hillary isn't on the ticket, I don't mind letting her have a slice of the pie. The important stuff seems to be falling into place nicely.
Meanwhile, McCain still has troubles with the religious right and Bob Barr is starting to get traction.
Let's enjoy the day.

18. I think that's a given |
|
Even her email appeal to her supporters last night included a big Donate button on it. You bet she wants to get her $11 million back.
I also think it's a given that she'll get some of that money from Obama. I think it's hard to believe he'd pick up the entire tab. But I'm sure she'll collect a nice chunk of change from him. I think in the political world, that's as standard as tipping a waiter.

19. Sure, I think there was some going back and forth behind the scenes... |
|
there is no telling how much talking went on between the candidates. I wouldn't be surprised if it was quite a bit.
