The end of the Clinton era |
|
I always supported the Clinton's. Living in one of the reddest states of all (Oklahoma) I certainly did more than my fair share of defending Bill and Hillary Clinton. So, its with bittersweet emotions that I bid the Clinton's farewell. The Clinton era is over. Hillary's speech last night proved that she is not worthy of defending. She could have conceded and endorsed Obama, thereby helping the Democratic nominee and the Democratic Party. She instead chose the low road. It's a pity.

1. I accept the fact the politicians don't always concede the night the race is over... |
|
...especially if it's a close race.
I just dislike the fact the she and her handlers decided to fill her supporters with the false hope that the race wasn't over, which it was.
DEN-VER...DEN-VER...DEN-VER--shoulda put a stop to that idea right away, but she egged them on.

4. Great point, Bicoastal |

It was shocking and disappointing to this former Clinton backer.

I spent years defending them. No more. Last night was the last straw.

7. I seriously doubt that... |
|
I suspect that Hillary has already gotten some kind of concession from Reid. I would expect to see her appointed to one or more coveted Senate committee posts within a year, in exchange for her stopping her campaign and endorsing Obama this Friday.
There is no point in grudging her that. I think she is a much better legislator than executive. Given that she doesn't get some kind of cabinet post, I think she'll be a powerful ally of Obama's interests in Congress.
Remember, we're talking about politics. You don't have to like a person to have them as a powerful ally.
Don't expect the Clintons to go away any time soon. That's not how they are. And they still have a lot of the right political positions, even if their motives are questionable.
I'd much rather trash Lieberman. Now that the Democrats are building a majority, we probably won't have to tolerate that McCain-supporting twerp much longer.
