Hillary Supporters who are on the fence...
I don't pretend to like Hillary Clinton, but I have over a decade of experience not linking the Clintons (I resigned as a ward captain for the Dems over them) so I'm not going to lavish false praise on her to make you feel better, because I would be bullshitting you: If all of this started over again I still wouldn't like your candidate. It has nothing at all to do with gender. I have a wife and two daughters I adore. I have as many female as male friends and a female boss who I'd follow off a cliff if she was sure it was necessary. I've worked on campaigns in my life on behalf of at least a dozen female candidates including Sebelius and Boxer.

But, here is what I suggest (for whatever it's worth) take a few days off, let things cool down and think about what you want to do for the GE. I don't think most of you want to support McCain but that's not for me to decide. DU tends to be a little more hardball than the real world and emotions have been running high for awhile now. My guess is that within a week Hillary will be forgotten about (or very nearly) on DU, at the very least it will be hard to get much response to Hillary threads. So, ignore this place for a few days, think about what you think is best in terms of the general election and if you decide that Obama is better than McCain come back and join the fight.

That is the best advice I have right now, and the best thing I can think of to say while remaining honest.

2. I resigned because
I trusted Bill, I worked hard in 92 for a candidate who ran as a progressive and then switched gears and governed like a moderate Republican (even before he lost congress).

Wellstone formed an exploratory committee and considered a challenge and I told the chair of my local DCC that if Clinton withstood a primary challenge from the left and won the nomination (in 96) that I'd work to get him elected, otherwise I would step down.

Instead Clinton and his allies pressured Wellstone until he stepped aside and I (as I had promised) resigned as a ward captain. I still voted a straight D ticket, and worked hard for local candidates but when it came to Bill I felt lied to and would not publicly endorse him, rather than be on a DCC and not endorse the presidential Candidate I stepped aside and let them find someone who would.

3. You want the bitches back ... but we don't need you. Never really did
This campaign was an opportunity squandered and you'll have to accept the consequences of your actions.

15. IRL, I was waiting on a financing meeting ...went well, but still awaiting
details. You've got a good radar, but it's not about HRC or DU. In fact, this time, I'm not doing Hospice @ Home, so the household is pretty calm now. But last night? Oh boy ... talking one of my partners down was not something I look forward to, but he had to be there. Me? I'm judged on my work, not my gender, so HRC and I have different opinions on being 'invisible'. In fact, it works for me ... I can even afford to be myself here.

Tension? Some is good, even in politics. I, for example, am now looking forward to the convention. Real drama, n'est ce pas?
