Women who Support Hillary will not vote for a Sexist President
When you look at McCain's history with the way he treats women, I don't see how sincere Hillary Clinton supporters would vote for him.

He called his wife a **** and left his first wife because she was too fat?

How can liberated women respect that?

I believe Women for Obama should push this point.

I can't see intelligent independent women supporting him.

2. isn't your title an oxymoron?
why limit it to "women"?

I hope what you say is true- but your statement strikes me as ironic.

peace~

3. I Don't Want to be accused of defending McCain
But how do you know he left his ex-wife because she gained weight? I mean, McCain had just returned from being a PoW for a long time. His wife had suffered a terrible accident. The psychological effects of those two tragedies probably had a hell of a lot more to do with the divorce than "his wife got fat."

There are plenty of areas for attacking McCain. I'm not sure his personal life is one of them.

4. well, there is nothing wrong with 'defending' another person-
I think it was more than "because she got fat"- he was still very much married when he started dating 'Cindy'-

The fact that 'Carol' doesn't have bad things to say about McCain speaks more of her character than his actions. And his personal life IS important IMO- He wants to project himself as "Mr.Noble, squeaky clean, good-guy". Most people don't even know that there WAS a 1st Mrs. McCain.-

Here is an interesting article:http://archive.salon.com/mwt/feature/2000/03/06/carol/print.html

peace~

12. John Kerry left his first wife because she gained weight.
We're talking about political men here. They wear women like a Rolex.

14. Its not long before he starts saying Obama ran a sexist primary campaign
Hes already laying it on thick towards Hillarys republican supporters. So when and if that happens, his complete disdain for all things women will become fair game

15. You have just defended him. Shame on you if you are a true Democrat.
There are plenty of areas for attacking McCain. I'm not sure his personal life is one of them.

Excuse me, but attacking personal lives is what the Repugs thrive on. Have you forgotten the 1990's? Have you forgotten the 2000's? They attack personal lives whenever they can, be it a local, state or federal position. Don't ever forget the Rove tactics that are still in play today.

13. I know about the story, but I'm not confident it's true...
these are private incidents that really depends on the POV of the observer. There has been no other corroboration by any other news outlet. I have my doubts.

16. There are zillions of incidents where McCain
has flown into a rage at other people in the Senate, witnessed by everyone in the Senate. I believe he's been confronted about name calling his wife and doesn't deny it. I can easily believe he would do something like this.

6. I think the things McCain said are unforgiveable
and even if it was a Democrat I would say we should make a big deal about it.

If we're going to wait for a man who isn't sexist at all- well, thats a rare bird. Obama doesn't seem to be sexist, but in my experience EVERY man is sexist, its just a matter of degree. I don't think the "sweetie" incident is horrible, but it shouldn't happen again. At least he's teachable. And he is married to a strong woman, so that makes a big difference.

17. Well, there's the sexist background noise of our culture
Everybody is sexist in that sense. Before I start throwing the word around as a personal pejorative, I look for a signal to noise ratio of at least 3 to 1 above background. I'd say calling your wife a cunt in public is way higher than that.

11. Obama simply ADORES his wife! Cindy McCain became Cindy McCain because
he cheated on his first wife with her. During the Repug presidential primaries in 2000, McCain allowed KKKarl Rove and the Repugs to diss his wife and family. Notice how Obama immediately comes to the aid of Michelle and defends her honor. Not to be crass, but McCain hasn't done that. He disrespects his wife in public. If he doesn't have respect for her, how is it that he'll respect women's rights?

One more thing: McCain doesn't support Equal Pay for Equal Work. Remember, he voted AGAINST that bill.

18. OK. But.... just remember....
women are not single issue voters.

So, you may want to focus on some policies with substance.
