How the dems will deal with Hillary: Barack has a problem, and her name is Hillary. She wants to be his VP and controls a huge bloc of ardent supporters; the most interesting of which are some female supporters who are claiming to be willing to support for McCain instead of Obama - in great numbers. Barack does not want Hillary to be his VP, and he wants to woo her supporters to his side.
Strategy - The Obama campaign fired a huge volly tonight by leaking word that Hillary would not be his VP. The reasons for this apparent slight? Bill Clinton refused to release his financial records, given in a *wink wink* delivery which is obvious code for, "Bill's a scumbag". You see, the Obama campaign has essentially signed a cease fire against Hillary Clinton campaign; a strategy brought upon by a need to win over her fervent supporters. To Hillary, be nice. To Bill, however, all's fair in love and war. Should Clinton continue to be perceived as a rabble rouser, the Obama campaign will leak Bill's "woman problems" as a reason why he will not select Hillary for Veep. And the Clintons worry about their legacy when the Nominee's campaign seeks to solidify its own power through threat of further public humiliation.
How the Republicans will deal with Hillary: McCain has a new ally, and her name is Hillary. She, of course, wants nothing to do with McCain. Yet McCain wants to use Hillary's statements about Obama to his benefit.
Strategy - McCain is going to run on experience and leadership, in a very similar way to Hillary, except McCain actually was a war hero and actually has spent decades in public service. Hillary could not defeat Obama using her "Experience" strategy, but McCain believes that he can. In the coming weeks you will see all manner of Republican gasbags begin to lavish praise upon Hillary Clinton. You have already heard McCain himself praise her for deserving "a lot more appreciation". By building her up into a stalwart (yet unpopular) teller of truths, they seek to lend credibility to the words she spoke during the nomination battle and use them to discredit Barack Obama. The Republicans will martyr Hillary in an attempt to welcome her supporters into their fold, while at the same time using her words against Obama to help destroy Obama and further cement their vote. In the upcoming election, her female voting bloc may just make all the difference, and McCain will pursue them hotly. And think of the reaction of the country if a few Hillary supporters cost the Democrats the election. Oh, what a final revenge on the Clintons that would be.
