Question; Would Hillary as VP energize Republicans more than Democrats? |
|
I've never bought the idea that the VP should go to the runner up. Bill Clinton wasn't exactly breaking down Paul Tsongas' door in '92.
So, let's ignore the idea that Hillary "earned" the VP slot for a moment.
Republicans are depressed. They somehow ended up with a nominee that the most important voting bloc in their party despises.
Say what you will about Obama and white men, but no Republican can win without the strong turnout of the Religious Right. And they despise McCain with a a passion.
And the libertarians hate him too.
So, now, they have to spend the next five months looking at him traipse around the country claiming to represent them.
And they can say all they want about Obama being an empty suit. And some of them can believe he is a Muslim. But who knows if they will be able to hate him more than they hate McCain.
But there is one person who can galvanize them like no other: Lady MacBeth herself, Hillary Clinton.
Why throw your enemies this much red meat? Why give them a bloody shirt to wave?

2. Good point but I doubt you have much to worry bout |
|
The Obama team has apparently constructed a hurdle too high for the clintons to clear. They have wisely and insisted that bill open the books of his library donors for scrutiny. I don't think they would want this to come out during the general election campaign.
It was a smart move. Now it will be seen as their decision to back out.

I'm afraid we can't beat the racists AND the Clinton haters and yes, they are a different bunch.

6. enough already - the only thing that "energize Republicans" is tax cuts - Hill unifies party |
|
not sure Obama cares since the Hill haters keep screaming in his ear "they have no place to go and besides it would hurt our feelings"

7. From the Republicans I have talked to, the answer is "Yes" |
|
In fact, I know two that are voting for Obama this time around -- but won't do so if Hillary is the vice president.
