Since GDP is soon going to be gone....
My thread is dedicated to Chairman (Rules) Louise Slaughter of New York.

She is a fantastic Congressman and one of my favorite Randi Rhodes guests EVA.

May Buffalo and Niagara Falls stay strong and true to Democratic principals.

5. There's a 3-kick rule?

Huh! Never knew that. I am sure i've seen many more self-kicks than that!

2. "... true to Democratic principals."
Right now, Barack Obama is the principal Democrat.

4. He is the presumptive nominee
And we have 435 HR seats to defend.

And I am a huge fan of Louise Slaughter.

12. Uhm, I think that was meant as a light-hearted spelling joke.
Prinicipal: Chief, primary. "She is the school Principal"
Principles: Ethics, code of conduct. "She holds high principles"

I do a lot of editing, and I see this one all the time. Homonyms trip up amazing amounts of authors.

3. I'll second that.
Thank God we American escapees to Toronto have access to networks that bring us decent news from Buffalo and Western New York. Buffalo is a city that's suffered terribly in the Bush era. Here's to 'em.

7. Thank you and thank Nance
And I have never seen such beauty as the path from Erie, PA to Lewiston, NY.

All of it looked like a postcard.

JeffR-

Thanks.

11. No, thank you.
The landscapes on both sides of the lake are really beloved to me, and I say this as a native Southerner. I'd sooner spend an afternoon in Plattsburgh or Rochester than damn near anywhere, and I'm that much happier that I can retreat north of the border back to a sane country at day's end. I've said a lot of crappy things about Canada since I came here, and I'll take the opportunity here to recant my views.

And yes, the area around Erie is among my favorite parts of the country, ranking up there with the Blue Ridge Mountains, the Adirondacks and the marshes at Savannah Beach. All unsung, maybe, but all special to me, at least.

6. GDP will not soon be gone.
It will be renamed GD: Politics, just as it was after 2004's primaries, and it will exist as basically a redundant General Discussion forum. As General Discussion is also devoted to politics, there is no difference between the two forums, but nevertheless, the admins leave them both up.
