A message to many who have their feelings ahem bruised
(I posted this inside a thread, but it deserves to be read on its own)

Knowing HOW INCESTUOUS DC politics are... there will be moves FROM THE CAMPAIGN to recruit somebody who is qualified as a VEEP and favors will be cashed and favors will be owed, nature of the beast.

Given in the primary I first fell in love with DK and later with John Edwards, whom I voted for, I do not make any demands from anybody to reach up to me

I will vote for one of the two candidates I liked the least, because he is worlds above McCain. And it is UP TO MY ECONOMIC INTERESTS to do such. If I made some millions a year, then my economic interests would be different, and perhaps my choice of party as well. Alas I don't, and I know that as a blue collar working family my future is not with the republicans... see how that works?

To quote Bill Clinton, you fall in love in the primary, you fall in line in the general election.

As to ME having to reach across, again given I am a John Edwards supporter, I am falling in line.

Hell, I even gave some money to the Obama campaign and it was what we can afford right now.

And you know what? The nurse she keeps mentioning in her stump speech, or the worker on the line, will vote in the fall for the democratic ticket because they both want change. In fact, chances are they don't have the time for the minutiae and could not tell an Ickes from a Rove... let alone a Carville from a Tucker. That is reality.

Most of what we KNOW is inside baseball, and the GE is the time for this candidate to make himself known to the rest of the nation, and that speech yesterday was a hell of a good beginning.

And you know what? I can ignore the Hillary boosters on this board every day of the week and twice on Sunday. Most of the posts are divisive and full of inanity, and for the record, so are many of the posts from the Obama supporters.

Then again I don't base my voting decision on a message board. And if somebody's feelings are bruised because of a message board, been there, done that, and not over politics. Step away from the computer, go outside, inhale some fresh air and realize the assholes on the other side of the screen are just that, assholes. I also know the hurt can be very deep, and for the record some assholes on the other side of a computer, may have cost me some gigs as a writer and I no longer do business with that company, a little more serious than assholes on a political board. The lesson learned from that is that you cannot control assholes, but if you allow assholes to control your life... especially assholes you've never met... then you are having some issues for allowing them that power... and they have some issues for using it.

And yes, there are cyber bullies and the best way to confront them is for very strong moderating teams. People voted for this environment, we got exactly what we deserved.

1. I'm not bruised, not the least bit sensitive...
I never really thought about it before now. But I'm wondering how folks can be so low as to treat the loser of the campaign the way they are. Intellectually, I know that Democratic government is better, but in character, it looks like we are taking a few steps backward.

I know that the youth represent the future of America, and I can tolerate their indiscretions, but if we want to maintain control of our nation we need to build more character. Listen to Obama when he praises Hillary. It's not just empty rhetoric.

2. And that is what I like about him... he has class
but this is about boosters (for both sides)

Message boards, when poorly moderated, or when the users choose this kind of an environment, do lead to bruised egos

People need to wake up and smell the coffee.

What I say on a board should not affect their lives

What they say, on a board, should not affect mine

:-)

3. Hey Nadine, don't know who your fav candidate was/is but
when I see your name all I remember is that this person usually has something to say I want to read. probably don't always agree. There are many on here that I vaguely remember as being interesting. When a post starts getting goofy with ugly rants it's real easy to find another post. Apparently some need to cuss and toss dirt and they feel better but I don't have to get emotional over their ideas, even if they disagree with me. I've been wrong a time or two - ha

I like DU. Been here a long time and I miss some of our special people lately. They probably got pissed and decided too many of us were dumb and radical. I do hope they will be back. They made this site classy.

Edited on Wed Jun-04-08 11:54 PM by nadinbrzezinski
and my candidate list went like this

Denis

John.....

Fall in line in the GE

And like you I do hope they come back, but I fear they will not

I hope the place will become that special once again, even if with new people, now that we have moved on to GE mode

oh and thanks

:blushes:

5. Started out a Dean fan and got a bit of ridicule over that
This time around Biden seemed right for the times. He had personality and international smarts. When that didn't work out decided Edwards would be a good Pres. Between Hillary and Barack I had to do some reading, etc. on Obama. The more I learned the better I liked him. Partly because many young people were inspired by him. You gotta wonder why. What I decided is that they Knew that their country was messed up, seriously. How smart of them, right. There is no doubt he is inspirational and is probably quite honest in what he tells us he wants to accomplish. We don't need more pushy politicians after 8 years of bush and his abuse of this country.

Speaking of Dennis, while the talking heads were discussing a VP Dennis came to mind. We could use Ohio in our column. We all know he doesn't have the looks and that certain charisma to get the votes but he does know how to explain what is needed at this time. We can't have everything.

6. As much as I love Dennis... he would be a bad choice for candidate
and yes I was a deaniac back in the day

Hell, I joined one of the first groups to form in Hawaii.

That was the first time I paid that close attention to base... err politics and primary politics

7. Someone on another post mentioned Wexler of Fla. for VP
The guy was impressive during the debates on the weekend defending Obama's votes. We seriously need Florida. What an idea.

8. I could see Wexler
and that might quiet the fears in a certain community.

9. my thoughts too but hesitated to mention it
I'll be glad when we don't have those thoughts pop in our minds and get back to our usual complaints about politicians.
