Take it to the bank: Obama will pick someone outside the Washington establishment
for his Veep. No Senator, etc. Not happening. The theme is changing how Washington works and hearing the voices from outside the beltway.

The choice will almost certainly be a governor like Schweitzer or Strickland or private citizen like Clark or Mark Warner (unlikely-running for Senate and expected to pick up a seat for Dems)

4. I am hoping for someone I haven't heard of
who on examination is stellar, and new. Though I like Richardson and a few others.

13. Richardson will almost certainly not pass vetting unfortunately
I can send a couple of links privately. I love Bill R. and don't want to embarrass him publicly

21. I've heard the same things and its a shame
I like Richardson a great deal, but he would be a lightning rod for the Republican's, since we all know how big they are on dragging skeletons out of the closet.

We can find a replacement for Warner who could pick up that Senate seat. Doesn't Tim Kaine's term expire anyway?

So I've got Wesley Clark, Brian Schweitzer, John Edwards, Mark Warner and Bill Richardson.

I don't want Webb, he's a good Senator and besides he doesn't exactly build any bridges with Hillary supporters. (In reality neither does Richardson, that's why he's fifth on my list). I would prefer that we keep all our senators right where they're at.

19. We need Warner in the Senate
he's running, and will most likely win, the seat. Now the Governor of Virginia, Tom Kaine -- I bet he's on top of the list right now. Also, former senator Sam Nunn. He brings in "experience" and foreign policy credentials, plus a white southerner which could help as well.

20. Strong candidate: Phil Bredesen (D-TN)
Edited on Thu Jun-05-08 10:46 AM by TornadoTN
If he would accept it, I honestly believe he would be a strong and viable VP pick. He is a successful businessman, avid outdoors man, and has been one hell of an excellent governor for this state. He won reelection by a landslide - Almost 70% of the vote and carried each county in the state.

He has all of the credentials for VP - outside of the establishment, can deliver a key state, and above all - he has experience in each area that Obama is perceived to be weak in.
