Poll question: Obama & Feinstein or Obama & Clinton
First, Barbara Boxer is my first choice followed by John Kerry to be Obama's VP.

Having said that, Senator Feinstein is really respected also and would deliver Florida in a heartbeat to Obama.

No one needs to rattle on about the negatives of Feinstein.

I'm just curious as to who would poll better here as a VP at this moment IF the choice were only between these two.

Hillary of Dianne.

5. I'm only asking the question.
I know the downsides of Feinstein quite well. My posts in the archives chronicle my thinking. That said, I think she will wind up on a short list along with Boxer (who endorsed Obama today)
So I just wanted to weigh the DU between these two women powerhouses within the Party. I'm advocating neither.

Well, of course I know all about Dianne's husband and his business, her IWR vote and more. I think you know me well enough to know she would not be a choice of mine, but between these two, I wanted to check the pulse here.

Actually, I voted for Dianne over Hillary in this poll.

Tomorrow, I'll put up Boxer vs Hillary. Of course, Barbara is my first choice to be VP which I think most here know.

Dianne Feinstein would put some much needed force behind gun control efforts in Washington. The Democrats seem to have lost interest in putting an end to gun crimes, and I would hope senator Feinstein could be a positive influence in bringing back the assault rifle ban.

39. Your Premise Is Incorrect
"Having said that, Senator Feinstein is really respected also and would deliver Florida in a heartbeat to Obama."

As someone who has lived in the Sunshine State for thirty eight years and worked on several state wide campaigns IMHO she brings little to the ticket...Obama is already strong with the groups she is strong...For a Dem to win the state of Florida he or she must rack up huge majorities in the South, play to a draw in Central Florida, and avoid getting shut out in the mostly conservative northern part of the state...There are liberal pockets in the northern part of the state like Tallahassee and Gainesville but they are dwarfed by Jacksonville and the Panhandle which is really southern Alabama...

If I was Senator Obama I would not waste money on Florida unless I am flush to make McCain spend money here...

While Kerry would be my first choice, he is not in the game here as he is running for reelection in MA and cannot run for the two seats at the same time (MA constitution).

If I really have to choose, if Bill could enter a prolonged voluntary coma for the next 8 years, it woul d be Hillary, otherwise Diane, but really there are other women that I would prefer to them, like Napolitano or Patty Murray.

Fiscal conservative, co-founder of the Blue Dogs, popular senator from a winnable southern state, rural roots, good campaigner, mother of twins, about same age as Obama. Appeals to conservativve rural Dems while not stepping on Obama's message of a fresh start.

Disclosure: I volunteered for Blanche in her 1998 race, and she gave us passes at the 2004 national convention. I'm not exactly unbiased!

Kerry isn't EITHER. If it is to be a male, at least a male who OPPOSED IWR when the war was a POPULAR policy. Remember those days? I do.

Bob Graham is possibly the ONLY candidate who would better help Obama carry Florida than CA Sen Boxer. MI Sen Stabenow voted NO on IWR and might seriously overpower the GOP in the region, and w/ the working class whites supposedly "alienated" by Obama. (Clinton was the only Democrat in DECADES to win this demographic -- BY ONE PERCENTAGE POINT in the GE). W/Stabenow, Obama might outperform that, and overwhelm the Repubs, while Boxer (my guess here) would help with the swing voters among suburban women and w/whites over 60 who aren't die-hard conservatives.

Boxer is not only highly competent, but has LOTS of appeal and no serious baggage AFAIK.
