The Task At Hand
Edited on Thu Jun-05-08 02:58 AM by NanceGreggs
So many wrongs to be righted, injustices to be overturned, mistakes to be undone.

So many wounds to be healed, fences to be mended, promises to be kept.

So many visions to be encouraged, dreams to be realized, hopes to be fulfilled.

So much destruction to be reversed, corruption to be exposed, fear to be vanquished.

So much respect to be recaptured, trust to be regained, friendships to be rebuilt.

So many needs to be met, mouths to be fed, minds to be educated.

So much comfort to be given, aid to be offered; so many hands to be extended in a gesture of giving rather than taking.

So many broken bodies to be made whole again, dampened spirits to be made to rise again, splintered factions to be brought together for the good of all.

So many words to be said in an effort to break the silence, so many truths to be told in order to undo the lies, so many new beginnings to be bravely embarked upon in hopes of never foolishly repeating the failures of the past.

So many bridges to be crossed, roads to be traveled, discussions to be engaged in, dialogue to be listened to, compromises to be reached, arguments to be compelled by, innovations to be dazzled by.

So many opportunities to exchange ideas that provoke thought rather than stubbornness, and promote reconciliation and common goals rather than discord and a refusal to move from long-held positions that only acknowledge what has always been instead of what could be.

This is the task-at-hand for the next president of our nation, who will – thanks to the incompetence, irresponsibility, and corruption of the current administration – inherit not only a responsibility to move us forward, but an equal responsibility to undo the damage that has been inflicted on our once-proud country.

It is a daunting, almost impossible task. It will take a man of extraordinary insight, skill, intelligence and vision to do not only what must be done, but what must be undone. It will also take a people who are willing not only to encourage his endeavors, but to participate in his every effort, in any way we can.

We have such a man. He is our nominee. And we have such a People – us.

1. Well said, as always, Nance.
Especially your last three lines: "We have such a man. He is our nominee. And we have such a People - us."

It WILL take all of us to begin to get this done.

I'm ready.

2. And all this staggers the imagination, in a good way. I love what Spielberg
just said today, that "The Force is with Obama".

3. Very Hopeful.
.
This is going to be a long march to bring USA back to the light of open and free government. The whole way will be filled with obstacles. The game has been rigged by a group of world class mountebanks.

Do not give up hope. The people can do it but it will require honest efforts by the leaders to stay open and true.

4. We can, we must.
Our obligation as human beings is to overturn the tyranny of the current administration and abide by the charge given us in the Declaration of Independence, and restore the principles upon which this nation was founded.
Like the tea thrown in Boston Harbor, we must drown the inequities and crimes committed by the Bush cartel. The cartel must be held accountable for their crimes against the country and humanity.
The voting mechanism that determines our elected leaders is compromised in many areas of the country, and this must be rectified forthwith. I love the sound of gurgling voting machines sinking beneath the waves. It sounds like ------------- victory.

8. Yep, we the people
Barack Obama is one of those and so is Hillary Clinton. The PNAC gang, not so much.

It's been a long time coming, but here comes the fun part. Look out Johnny, the gun turrets are turning your way. There are so many ways to take you down and frankly, you offer them up so very freely, this will be a short one, but I intend to get every last drop of enjoyment out of it. He's chosen to chain himself to GWB, so I feel no compunction at directing eight years of rage at that stupid man.

Now's the fun part. Man, I wish I wasn't going to be so busy with my son's chelation. Please folks, carry the flags proudly!

11. So Many Criminals to be Indicted
Edited on Thu Jun-05-08 10:44 AM by NBachers
Treasonous moles to be ferreted out.

So many signing statements to be reversed.

So many sentences to be handed out and jail cells to be occupied.

So many traitors to be brought to wrathful justice.

So many death-profiteers to be sent to the gallows.

So many international fences to be mended.

So much money to be recovered and re-allocated.

So many tax breaks to be undone; subsidies to be cancelled.

So many mansions and estates to be emptied and given back to the people.

So many deaths to be atoned for.

So many black agencies to be disbanded.

So many secrets to be exposed.

So many scientists and educators to be acknowledged.

So many brave, broken men, women, and families to be cared for.

So many chickenhawks to be exposed and castigated.

So many Republicans to be defeated in the elections.

So many Democrats to be held accountable.

So many new policies to be enacted.

A Constitution to be restored.

Sunshine to be cast.

12. Your last sentence can not be overstated
We have a nominee that has the will and his power to make the change comes from the people (us) being engaged and forcefully insistent...this does not end after he wins the office...we must keep our voice strong during the fight and pounce on the interests that would seek to prevent the change we are seeking and deserve for our country. This is a long term fight and please do not forget this.

15. My dear Nance...
Obama lifts us out of ourselves, out of the doldrums that have been the fruit of the * administration!

What a man, what a leader he is!

We will do it, with him as our leader.

YES WE CAN

17. I'm reminded of a few quotes(or paraphrases)
Edited on Fri Jun-06-08 01:13 AM by liberaltrucker
Will Rogers: "I'm a member of no organized political party-I'm a Democrat".

Bill Clinton: "The primaries are to fall in love, the general is to fall in line".

Harry Truman: "I don't give the Republicans hell, I give them the truth, and they
think it's hell".

Harry Truman: "If the Republicans stop lying about me, I'll stop telling the truth
about them".

Barak Obama: "There is no blue America. There is no red America. There is the
UNITED STATES OF AMERICA!

JFK: "Ask not what your Country can do for you, ask what you can do for your Country".

RFK: "I see things that are and ask 'why'. I see things that could be and ask 'why not'".

MLK: "I have a dream.......".

Our nominee has some HUGE shoes to fill. God knows, I wouldn't want that responsibility
for all the gold in Ft Knox. Mr Obama is up to the task-may all the Dieties guide him.

18. Nance, you make me sick
Edited on Fri Jun-06-08 12:54 AM by rebel with a cause
I am so jealous because you just make soo much sense. I am intimidated by your writing skills but I have just a few things I want to say about all this.

If Obama is half the man we think he is and we succeed at getting him into the WH, we will be happy with his efforts to make this country right again. But he cannot do it alone. We have to make sure that the congress does not stand in the way of us putting this country back together again.

Just as bush had his fanatics pushing forward the destruction done by the bushies, we have to use the same resolve to push them to put the constitution back together again and this war ended. We have to fight to get the rights given back not only to our citizens but to the citizens of the world that we have so harshly abused in the last eight years.

This is not only Barack Obama's fight, but this fight belongs to all of us. It is up to us all to take our country back. And if we have to go to the streets like was done in the sixties, then to the streets we will have to go.

Someone with a van may have to come pick me and my wheelchair up for the journey, but if I am still here, I'm willing to be there with you all. This is our time. This is our fight. This is our destiny.

19. Sadly I don't see some things happening
1) Bush will never be tried for shit. He'll get some trial like Clinton, where he could not practice law for some time (which was a crock, Clinton should have gotten no penalty). A slap on the wrist at best as all Bush has coming for him!!

2) Neither will Cheney, Rove, or any of the other cabal of Bush's crowd. They will get histories conviction, nothing more!!

Sorry folks, my .02 on this
