If Hillary Was The Nominee, Would Obama Supporters Vote For David Duke... |
|
If David Duke, the former KKK grand dragon and one time LA governor candidate, was the GOP nominee? Afterall, if Duke won, then the country would so screwed up and polarized, that Obama could probably coast to a win in 2012?
The sad thing is that this is the logic that I am hearing from many Hillary supporters. Some want to support, because they know that he will be a bad president, perhaps he will bomb Iran or perhaps privitize Social Security as he tried to do with Bush, then Hillary could run in 2012.
I don't know, but that just sounds wrong. I mean talk about living up to the image of an I-Hate-America type of activist. Also, what is amazing is that these so-called Hillary supporters are saying this to the press? Do they think that the GOP is not going to file this away in the event that Hillary runs in 2012 to argue that Hillary's supporters were ready to screw up America just so that there beloved candidate can run for president again?
So, first the logic is messed up. Second, even if someone believes this line of crap, why say it out loud? Amazing.

No. He's saying that McCain is about as good for women (i.e. HRC) as Duke is for AAs (Obama) |

leftofcool,
I did not say that Hillary supporters are KKK members. I actually once supported Hillary, and I am not a member of the KKK. I doubt that any real Hillary supporters are KKK members. Do you need further explanation?

What would you call Clinton supporters who vote for McCain out of spite?
Personally I'd call them stupid for cutting their noses off to, by the way it's the same label I'd give to Obama supporters who threatened to vote for McCain also.

3. Those are not Hillary supporters |
|
It's utter nonsense. I personally don't know a single Hillary supporter who would vote for McCain (really, it's not even a choice) and I think the people you see on the boards are plants.
I'm really tired of being told that I plan to vote for McCain. I DETEST John McCain. I am personally not happy with the choice I have in the GE, but I am a lifelong Democrat and will of course vote for the nominee. It's not the first time my primary candidate has lost.

6. Well, some of them have compared Clinton to David Duke, so good question. |
|
Randi Rhodes called Geraldine Ferraro "David Duke in drag" for a stupid but hardly hateful comment that Obama's success was because black voters identified with him. (The comment was wrong, but hardly equated her with Duke).
So, if they are equating the Clinton campaign with David Duke, would they vote for Clinton?

16. I'm saying the rhetoric is getting ridiculous on both sides here. |
|
How many Obama supporters have said they not only wouldn't vote for Clinton if she were the nominee, but that they want her defeated in the Senate next election? The "I won't vote for the other dude" sentiment is on both sides, as is the hyperbole and hypocrisy. Both candidates have been called vile names around here, neither side has any moral superiority on this issue.
That's my point. Let's drop it and move on. The Clinton supporters are upset they lost to someone many of us don't respect. Give us a moment to vent, then let's get on with beating the fucking traitors who slaughtered a million innocent people in Iraq. Every time an Obamaton posts one of these "Clinton supporters are so gawdawful stupid" posts it just prolongs all this shit.
Obama folk claim he is honorable and positive. Okay, I don't buy that, but if you believe, act like it. Follow his lead. Do the same thing around here. You aren't going to shame someone into supporting him. Try to persuade with positive examples. Maybe then we can get somewhere.

17. My Perspective - What Can He Or She Do For Me? For America? |
|
I am a free agent, and I admit that I have difficulty understanding the perspective of those folks who are absolutely smitten by a candidate. To a certain extent, candidates are fungible for me, because what is importent to me is that a candidate supports my view on the issues. Not the other way around.
This is why it amazes me that someone is so willing to throw their ideas under the bus and vote for and support a candidate that is against the ideals espoused by Hillary. I have not given to either candidate, but I will now give to Obama because he is the nominee. Yes, I am pretty mercenary in my approach to politics, because we are in a stupid war, gas prices are going through the roof, the environment is going to crap, and we have a candidate that promises more of the same, and who wants to expand the Bush agenda by abolishing social security in favor of private accounts. Need I go on?
So, my great impatience has been to just flip a freakin coin already between Hillary and Obama, and start bashing some Republicans. Obama is the nominee? Great, Hillary should endorse him, and lets get on with the program. This applies to both Obama and Hillary supporters.
This is not some sentimental call for unity. This is a call for action.

18. Then you shouldn't start a thread that questions one candidate's supporters |
|
That only prolongs the battle. No one will be swayed by your thread. We either bury the differences and move on, or keep stroking our egos with rhetorical nonsense.

14. These people don't support Hillary for her ideas. |
|
They only support her because she's a woman.
Honestly, that is the only rational conclusion to draw. They didn't want to vote for Hillary to see her policies and goals advanced. They only wanted to see her in the White House as a figurehead.
They are entitled to vote for somebody for whatever reasons that they want, of course. This is America.
