Angry Clinton Supporters Start Rallying for McCain Online
Edited on Thu Jun-05-08 12:12 PM by LoZoccolo
They're mad as hell, and Hillary Clinton's supporters aren't going to take it anymore.

Some Clintonites are so mad about Barack Obama's Tuesday victory that they've launched a web site to build support to launch a lobbying group to support Republican John McCain.

"We're going to run campaign ads to defeat Obama," says Ed Hale, a 63-year-old rancher and a Clinton supporter from Wellington, Texas. "We have doctors, lawyers, CPAs, the blue bloods, and then we have rednecks like me. It's a very diversified organization."

The split illustrates the difficult task the Democratic party now faces in rallying the troops behind Obama. Open dissent within party ranks provides Republicans with openings to exploit.

I think it might be a tendency of some of these "low information voters" that Hillary was courting (amongst others) that they don't see much of a difference between the Democratic and Republican parties.

It's not even just "sitting the election out" or "writing in Hillary". It's actively working for four more years of Bush policies.

I've been to a number of those sites/blogs in the last few days to see for myself.

The lion share are uneducated people who have issues when to use your and you're and theyre, their and there in the proper context. Many seem to be have emotional issues without the critical thinking skills to see past their hand.

Are you supporting John McCain for President? I'm not. I am a Democrat.

8. Just another one of the many things we have to thank Hillary for. Disgusting.
She'd better get herself out there and do what she promised-- work her heart out for the nominee- and it needs to be without any strings attached (which for her is probably not possible, unfortunately), Otherwise, these women and the rest who are threatening to vote McShame or not vote or write in or whatever may be lost for good- thanks to Hillary and her bigger, knee-capping campaign tactics.

The problem is that she's now placed herself in a position where if Obama does not pick her as VP and then loses, she can always say "it's not my fault- I offered to be the VP which would have helped him win but he picked someone else so he lost".

27. Yes - I've come to that belief, too.
Just listening to anti-Obama people using the guise of being Hillary supporters. They call in to a talk show, say blah blah blah, and the host will explain how that statement is untrue. The caller will say, anyway, but blah blah blah -- and just move on to the next false accusation.

It dawned on me that the issues they were citing, weren't really why they were against Obama at all, otherwise the explanation would have meant something to them.

I began to wonder, then came to believe, that they are racist, and perhaps don't even know it themselves. They are afraid of a black man leading our country, but can't even admit it to themselves because they know it is fundamentally wrong to have those feelings.

I work for a Fortune 100 and most of us here are either attorneys or have master's degrees. They know my involvement in the campaign and have come over in the last few days to express their dismay at her loss. Several, including men, have said that they won't vote for Obama. They would have voted for Hillary, but don't consider Obama experienced enough to handle the job. BTW, two of them are AA.

I just saw one guy and as we passed in the hall he yelled out: McCain!!

24. People are free to support politicians of their choice
Edited on Thu Jun-05-08 12:28 PM by HereSince1628
even if their choice is irrational or against their own self-interest.

All this angst is about not being able to accept having backed the candidate who ended up losing a close primary campaign. There is nothing to do about this but let them be; let them go. They need to grieve, they need to get over it. The majority of them probably will get over it.

It's an inappropriate time to do anything but let them get over their loss. Most of them aren't going to throw temper tantrums that will carry through until November. In the end cooler heads will prevail. People who see McCain as the best alternative to Hillary Clinton are using something other than Democratic principles as the foundation of their thinking. Of course they are free to do that. And we should let them. Constantly sticking Clinton's loss in their face is just going to provoke them.

Let it be. Without a rallying point this Clinton supporters for McCain thing will disperse under its own lack of coherence.

28. These where never Clinton supporters. They are anti-Obama.
After perusing through the filth sack boards at hillaryclintonforum.net and hillaryis44.org I've noticed that these people were using Hillary as their vehicle to hate Obama. Look at the threads on this site. There is one thread, with many positive replies, stating they WOULD NOT vote a ticket with Hillary as VP. Why? Because Obama was on it.

These people may have started out as Hillary backers, but after months of rolling around in filth, praising lies and innuendo against Obama, they came to finally believe it. These people honestly believe Obama is an evil, evil man, akin to satan. They hate him so much that supporting Hillary is no longer even in the forefront of their minds. These 'Hillary' supporters are anti-Obama hate voters wrapping themselves in a Hillary flag.

These voters do no good for true Hillary supporters, Obama, or the Democratic party. Most are lost. You can see it in their virtual eyes.

including some from New York. These feminists blamed sexism for Hillary's loss. I strongly disagreed with them and pointed out Hillary's hubris, poor strategy, and poor executive leadership skills. She should have vetted Mark Penn before ever making him her chief campaign advisor. Penn had no clue how the Democratic primary process worked.

I was accused of suffering from "internalized sexism". I asked them "I despise Bill Clinton, not just Hillary. Does that mean I have internalized hatred of men?" They responded that my remark was proof that I suffered from "internalized sexism". Whatever!!! :eyes:

I'm beginning to think that there was a movement among RW tricksters to setup Clinton support sites etc., to try to stop Obama. We've seen the MSM Repubs support for Clinton (Scarborough, Buchanan) and maybe this went further.

Even stoking the flames. When you have RW pundits on television seemingly so understanding of Hillary's plight, you've got to take pause.

A favorite of mine was when Tucker Carlson said he knew people in Obama's campaign, and that, "a lot of them don't like the Clintons, they think they're racists". That's garbage, it's a lie and the RW talking heads are flaming the fires here.

Koryne Horbal, Founder of the DFL Feminist Caucus, who served under several Democratic Administrations, comes to mind. It's pretty shocking and extremely disappointing.

To your point, I'm not gullible enough to believe a few loudmouths ever represent anything, that includes this bunch. In Koryne's case, she tried to and was thankfully immediately contradicted buy the President of the DFL Feminist Caucus. I personally think they're few and far between and that the majority of the shit stirrers were either non-Democrats or fair-weather Democrats.

What's a shame is that they've been able to camouflage very well without being denounced. I'm sure time will take care of that now that we're no longer in an "an enemy of my enemy is my friend" mode.

75. I'm pretty sure you hit that on the head
These people wouldn't spend two minutes on casting a vote for Clinton in November. What exactly is so different between his "security" platform and Clinton's? The site reads like a standard Bushbot rant. Clinton supporters my ass.

64. Just goes to prove a large chunk of those mythical 18 million Hillary voters
are Operation Chaos rethug slimeballs.

No democrat is going to vote for McBush over Obama.

None. Zero. Zip. Nada.

66. It would be great if we identified these "some" Clintonites
These are the fickle fair weather, demand-making types that keep the party for moving in a decent direction because we keep pandering to their demands for a few votes.

Everytime we pander to them, we lose good supporters who get disgusted because we're abandoning our principles to compromise with hijackers.

LET THEM GO!

Goodbye Ed Hale and all the riff-raff supporting you.

69. That's true; she led in pledged delegates.
The only reason he "won" is because of the superdelegates.

76. Actually it is, lol.
I don't use the sarcasm smiley, but sometimes I use small print to indicate that. And then sometimes I don't!

73. These people couldn't even raise money for their own candidate ...
But they think they are going to fund a lobbying group to run ads for McCain?

This is the funniest thing I have read all day.
