This whole "Obama/Lieberman" encounter...
...Are people making too big a deal over it? All I can see is that there will be a negative spin on this whole thing against Obama. Any thoughts? I rarely start my own thread around here

1. What's the big deal, really? He didn't assault Lieberman he just gave him a "talking to".
Lieberman is a feeble little rat fuck of a shit. He has gotten a pass far too long.

18. I'm talking more about the way the media will spin it
...not the way that we see it.

2. No doubt Faux will spin it against him, but the other senators now know who's boss.
Edited on Thu Jun-05-08 12:55 PM by funflower
Betcha nobody in the Senate wants to be taken to the public woodshed by the soon-to-be leader of the free world.

3. I don't see negative spin coming.
I think democrats are loving it. Let that shithead Lieberman know that he is on the verge of getting completely thrown out of the party once and for all.

22. Don't get me wrong...
...I think it's great. I think he will set any one straight (although he may have been a little too cordial with Hillary). I am just waiting for Fox and all the other vultures and hyenas to paint him as the "black intimidator"!

13. taking Joey's hand
showed a commanding presence. Notice LIEberboy didn't shake off Daddy's hand.

It was bold; it was LEADERSHIP; it was I'll show you who's the boss!

6. Extremely
They had a conversation that Barak Obama dominated with "non-threatening" hand gestures.

I'm not sure why non-threatening was even put in there, since it brings up the image of "threatening" by nature of the word.

They obviously had a disagreement about something and discussed it. The conversation ended cordial enough with pats on the back.

Its a total non-issue.

7. (shrug) They'll use it as "angry black man" ammo, but they'd do that ANYWAY....
So it doesn't introduce any *new* complexities.

Moreover, that sort of thing, along with Obama banning lobbyist $ from the DNC actually *helps* Obama, I think. Showing his ability and willingness to assertively COMMAND, when appropriate, is a *very* good thing. We need a diplomat as President, but we also need a *commander*. Show that he has *both* of those skills in his toolbox can't be anything other than a benefit, ultimately.

9. No way. Democrats should be proud.
Besides setting Traitor Joe LIEberman straight, I think Obama was sending a public message to the repukes (and others) that there's a new Big Dog in town.

12. Damn positive in my book.
Geez. Talk about damned if you do, damned if you don't. Democrats are accused of being push overs for years, and now that we have a strong, capable leader, we're worried about it? Hell, read any bio of LBJ and you will know that this is all part of the game.

15. saw the clip run on ABC
and there wasn't anything there that looked in the least threatening. Don't see how Faux can spin it unless they use words and not visuals, which would easily refute any accusations they would make.

19. That's what I saw. They were probably arguing over what they were eating for lunch
back slapping and grins is not intimidation.

Plus Obama is 6'2" he's always taller and seems more intimidating than most. Lieberman is like what? 5'9 and that's being kind.

It's just corny. BO is like a rock star, he gets into these things beause he's so popular when in reality the conversation is probably he msot mundane thing. Maybe he complimented Lieberman on his tie too.

21. He showed some spine - rare for a Democrat this days
Edited on Thu Jun-05-08 02:25 PM by DeeDeeNY
He confronted LIEberman face to face. He was cordial yet assertive. That's what good leaders do. I don't see how they can negatively spin this. It's not as though he loudly and crudely told him to go Cheney himself -- although somehow that episode from a few years ago didn't result in any negative media spin at all towards Cheney.
