Lanny Davis to head up VOTEBOTH.COM - I guess we now know it's not an independent site
Remember when the site, even though run by Clinton folks, claimed to be "neutral" in their support for an Obama/Dream Ticket - well this states otherwise.

That'll do the trick

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
June 5, 2008

LANNY DAVIS JOINS VOTEBOTH.COM AS SENIOR ADVISOR(sic)

Unity Petition so Popular Web Servers Can Barely Keep Up

"WASHINGTON, DC—VoteBoth.com today announced that former White House
Special Counsel and frequent media commentator Lanny Davis will serve as
Senior Advisor (sic) to the campaign, which aims to bring together Senators
Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton on a "dream ticket." Davis yesterday
launched a petition urging Obama to choose Clinton as his running mate
to create "the strongest possible ticket for the Democratic Party."

"This seems to capture the silliness of this sort of thing: Any interesting reporting or meaningful politics around a joint ticket has to come from Obama supporters or Obama's campaign. It's his choice because, you know, he won.

"So there's a certain lack of leverage here, and involving Davis — a staunch Clinton supporter loathed in the Obama camp — doesn't exactly add to it.

:wtf:

1. Hillary Spokesperson: "She Is Not Seeking The Vice Presidency"

Hillary Spokesperson: "She Is Not Seeking The Vice Presidency"

By Greg Sargent - June 5, 2008, 3:05PM

The Hillary camp -- perhaps sensing that all the calls from Hillary supporters for her to be made Veep are now hurting more than helping -- moves to distance itself from all such efforts by sending out this statement from Hillary spokesperson Howard Wolfson...

"While Senator Clinton has made clear throughout this process that she will do whatever she can to elect a Democrat to the White House, she is not seeking the vice presidency, and no one speaks for her but her. The choice here is Senator Obama's and his alone."

This was probably made necessary by the fact that VoteBoth, a group devoted to bringing about an Obama-Hillary ticket, announced today that senior adviser Lanny Davis had joined its effort.

Of course, it's perfectly likely that figures like Davis -- and many other Clinton supporters calling for her to be made Veep -- are acting independently here. The problem, however, is that it doesn't look like this is the case. And that's the rub, since any perception that Hillary is trying to force Obama's hand through whatever channels only makes the possibility that he'll offer the slot to her more remote.

3. She has to be vetted
Just like all the others on Obamas list. Can she and Bill make it through the vetting process?

10. Um,
you have no say. The VP is not an elected office, Obama gets to choose.

4. As Alter said on KO, Hillary should have shut this down immediately...
when Dais first proposed it.

It's like she's trying to guarantee that her entire political career is now over.

12. "it is" what? Shut down?
I can't believe Lanny Davis would do this if Hillary and Bill were telling him not to. Has it been shut down?

not necessary; "Advisor" is a perfectly acceptable spelling.

7. The spell checker said Adviser
And I didn't want people carping on me b/c of the different spelling. I agree with you Abacus, btw. But I didn't want to be accused of being an ignoramus by some certain posters (not you!) around here. :toast:

13. Where is the media on this
Why isn't anyone reporting that this Domain, voteboth.com was created in March of 2008? That was the date it was clear that Clinton couldn't win the nomination based on the delegate lead Obama had gained. A simple lookup on this suspicious date shows that the Clinton campaign was actually just a campaign for leverage to get the VP nod since March 2008:
