Edited on Thu Jun-05-08 02:42 PM by Zynx
I am a former Clinton supporter who started tacitly supporting Obama a while back. While a lot of negative things were said by both sides, let's remember we are part of the same party. Senator Obama went and is continuing to go to extreme lengths to make Hillary's supporters welcome in the party and it is only fair to reciprocate by donating, just to start, $270 to symbolize the 270 electoral votes he needs to become president. There will be more coming, but as an opening gesture of party unity I think it is a pretty good opening amount.

Let's grease the wheels of the juggernaut that will crush McCain and the Republicans this fall.

Edit:
On a suggestion in this thread, I also encourage healthy donations to the DNC or the Congressional Campaign Committees, which I will also be doing shortly to shore up our party as we make a huge combined push this fall to bring Democrats into power all across this country.

4. And for those who does not want to donate to Obama
I would suggest donating that money to the DNC instead now that they are not accepting donations from lobbyists and PACs, i am quite sure the party overall and the down-ticket democrats would greatly appriciate the help :)

sorry for the hijack of sorts Zynx, but it seemed right to offer an alternative to those who does not really want to support him specifically

12. NJS just made me laugh.
He was an Obama supporter in the beginning and just randomly switched to Hillary--it was real hard to take anything he said seriously.

Same went for the other guy who had a His44 logo in his sig.

30. Because
I'm originally from Michigan. They have been sending my mother (longtime Democratic activist, 2004 delegate to the convention) requests for money and she writes back on the envelope, "if you don't want my vote, why do you want my money?"

I don't want to re-hash the argument about "the rules" for the millionth time, because I was for figuring something out long before the primaries occurred, but suffice it to say, I don't think Michigan got a fair shake (Florida either, for that matter). So, no money from my family for them, but we will of course support other progressive causes and individual races. I might donate to Darcy Burner out in Washington state (where I live now), for example.

Even if i may not agree with all of it you are entitled to and have a right to your view :)

how is that saying again: I might not agree with what you say but I will defend to the death your right to say it.

(or think as the case may be )

You might also have guessed that NARAL is off my list for the moment, too!

OTOH, I did a little resarch into their current head, and she was a controversial choice who, according to the article I read, is, or at least WAS, personally opposed to abortion!

I'll tell you one thing, in a protracted well-fought primary season, you learn a lot of stuff you might not have otherwise known.

Trying to keep up on things have at times felt like my head has been on the wrong way, upside down, and so on. toward the end of the primary my head was swirling so much i was sure it would end with it flying or settling the wrong way hehe

But its been very very educational for this Norwegian to follow(i actually tended to stay awake the whole night during the primary/caucus days/nights to see how each state ended)

22. Generally - Will You Donate More Now Then You Have Previously Given?
For me the answer is easy, yes. I was reluctant to give to either Obama or Hillary to beat up on each other, so I sat on sidelines when it came to contributing. However, I am about to shoot $200.00 to the Obama campaign. I am also thinking about contributing to the DNC directly.

So, what about everyone else? Have the primaries tapped you out? Or, were you waiting until the primaries were over to show the Democratic Party some love?
