Out of the box VP selection . . .
So I haven't heard her name mentioned anywhere, but what about Olympia Snowe? She is a moderate Republican, which fits in with the message about a new politics that cuts across ideology, is pro-choice, in favor of expanding rights for gay Americans, anti-war (sort of, see http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2007/07/07/AR2007070700792.html), and very experienced, including on national security matters -- she sat on the Senate Armed Services Committee, currently sits on the Senate Select Committee on Intelligence, and previously sat on the House Foreign Affairs Committee. And, of course, she's a woman. Thoughts?

1. Washington insider is very unlikely IMO. Look at governors instead

2. How about a Democrat thank you?
I've had my fill of Republicans just about now.

No way!

5. I hear you ...
Except her voting record is more liberal than a great many conservative Democrats, IMO.

3. After all the great Dem candidates we had in our primary ... we don't need to go 'Thug
especially not in the VP slot. Snowe would make a good Cabinet
appointment, though.

4. No senators
Geezus, can we stop this insanity already? Two senators on a ticket = President McLoon.

I don't care if it's Russ Feingold, or Diane :scared: Feinstein. In this case, neither one is acceptable.

6. I was going to say the same thing.
Also, we're going to have to layoff our senators for the cabinet positions as well. It's funny to see some of these dream teams.. with about 5 senators or tenured congress persons on them.

7. She's a moderate for a Republican,
I've seen her often while watching the Small Business Committee that she and Kerry are ranking member and chair on. Which ever party has been in office, they have treated each other with fairness and clearly get along. In one hearing, one of them left a mic on and their discussion between panels was interesting. They found their intended questions similar - so they split them and were laughing at the similarity. They've written a lot of legislation together and are also together on the commerce committee.

I'm not sure the bipartisan ticket makes sense as the VP is a weird job, that has few tasks under the constitution. I doubt the Democrats would nominate her in 2016.
