No Republicans on the ticket!!!!!!!
Edited on Thu Jun-05-08 04:13 PM by Cant trust em
I'm sorry, but after 8 years of the George Bush administration I don't want any republicans within sniffing distance of OUR oval office. They had their time in office, effed it up, and I want them far far away.

For that matter, they may not have cabinet positions of State, Defense, Attorney General or Labor. Maybe I'll be amenable to some lower level cabinet positions. VA is about as central as I want them to be in our administration.

This is our time. They can take a backseat for the forseable future.

2. Agreed
I'd like to see the word bi-partisanship stricken from the dictionary for the next 8 years.

4. Anyone who suggests putting a Republican on the ticket is insane, IMO.

They cannot be trusted with government, especially the WH after what they have done.

8. you have obviously missed some of the discussions around here on this issue.
you wouldn't believe some of the names that have been brought up, not just for cabinet posts, but for vp as well--with powell at the top of the list (and the swooming about obama "reaching across the aisle")

13. I have only seen Hagel mentioned, but he is bad enough.
A REPUBLICAN a stone's throw away from the Presidency?

BATSHIT INSANE!

It's crazy, the suggestion of people like Hagel and Powell.

Republicans need to be swept from power. Period. This is not the time to be nice. This is a time for taking care of business. We need to take the trash out.

7. I agree that a Republican as VP is a bad idea.
I don't agree. necessarily. that they should be removed from consideration for certain cabonet posts; Chuck Hagel, for instance, would probably make a decent SecDef. The key to selecting Republicans for such positions is that their views are broadly in line with those of the administration as regards the policy of the department they're selected to head (Hagel fits the bill there re Defense, with his opposition to the war). Defense is probably the ONLY first-tier cabinet post I can see a republican selected for, and then subject to the stipulation I give.

12. chuck hagel? owner of one of the electronic voting machine companies,
who rather mysteriously "won" his senate seat? oh yeah, I want a person like that in the cabinet. do a little research on him before thinking he would, or should, have any place in a dem administration. the man is a crook.

17. A Republican VP?...and only a heartbeat away from the presidency? Bad idea.
There are just so many very qualified Democrats to put on the ticket. And because the VP is a PERMANENT position, it's best not to take the chance. (Hillary's RFK comment was a spine-chillingy reminder.)

I would be for ANY bi-partisan appointments in Obama's cabinet....if they do not work out, they can be replaced....not so with the VP.

(The issue is about permanent/elected vs impermanent/appointed,)
