Hillary Clinton Does Not Own Me
I voted for Hillary way back when. I long dreamed of the day I could do that. I could not wait for the day I could vote for the first female president of the United States. I think she's shrewd and smart and I thought she would make a great president. I'm one of her "18 million" votes.

I changed my mind - a while ago. I am now a die-hard Obama fan. So is my mother. She voted for Hillary. So is my sister. She voted for Hillary. Hillary can subtract 3 votes from that "18 million." Where does she get off thinking she owns us and can use our votes to twist Obama's arm into picking her for VP? Let me tell you, I also, at one time, dreamed of the "Dream Ticket." Now, I can't think of anything worse. Who does she think she is? I've never seen this side of Hillary and I REALLY don't like it.

Obama would EARN my support. I am 100% behind him, not just because he is the nominee, but because he is the right person for the job.

36. ! What did it? How did he earn it?
I hate to confess I used to be dead set against Obama but I had the same transformation you did a few months ago. I went from being very cold to totally supportive with a very short transition period. The more I listened to him, the more I liked him despite myself. Finally I just gave in. It was getting tiresome being stubborn just because other politicians had let me down when he seemed to really be walking his talk.

3. Good for you! Hillary Rosen said it all the other day ...
She was a STRONG HRC supporter/surrogate throughout the campaign
but she likewise disliked being used as a bargaining chip. I think
there are more of her supporters who feel likewise than we all may
realize.

7. Hillary Clinton doesnt really have 18 million voters on her side
She has like 42% of the Democratic Voters. Thats what the polls have shown. So out of the 36 million or so, she probably has around 15 million to Obama's 18-19 million.

11. She Has Every Right To Own That Vote.
You cast it, and you cast it for her. Your regret of the vote does not in any way shape or form nullify it from having been cast. Blame yourself. Blaming her for using it is just plain dumb.

20. LOL! The vote is a mark on a piece of paper. She can wave that
around all she likes. She cannot count on my support. She no longer has it. Using the piece of paper as evidence of support won't work. That was then, this is now. If she had won, she could use the vote. She didn't and I have changed my mind. The vote means nothing. On the other hand, I voted for Al Gore. He didn't win and my vote means nothing, BUT if he were to ask me to get behind him for something else, I would. He still has my support. The paper is irrelevant.

26. The point is ...
... millions of votes were cast for Hillary as a candidate for the nomination.

She is no longer a candidate, as the nominee has been chosen.

Therefore, those votes do not "belong" to her to be used for any other purpose, now that the race is over - especially as a bargaining chip.

No candidate will be chosen till the convention. You do know how this all works, right?

Now granted, that will almost certainly be Obama. But in the meantime, until that happens, she has every right to tout her accomplishments. Some people here have really gone off the deep end.

49. What An Absolutely Silly Failure Of A Gotcha.
That was early February. I said I was comfortable in the conclusion. I never said it was certain. I also quantified with "at this point". That was February. It's now June. A whole lot has happened since February and June. It's not "at this point" anymore. What a ridiculous little failure of a gotcha that was.

37. Yes, she has a right to tout her accomplishments ...
... and the support she received and the votes cast for her are nothing to be discounted or dismissed.

However, while the votes will always be to her credit, she doesn't "own" the voters who cast them.

If you want to play the "there is no official nominee until the Convention" game, feel free. It isn't going to change a damned thing. But you know that.

I can't get over the arrogance where someone thinks that if someone voted for her, they are their property in a virtual sense.

It sounds petulant and is exactly the kind of Clintonian politics that first made me not want Hillary Clinton as the nominee. Seeing recent statements that Obama supporters should offer an extra level of "respect" is odd to me.

What does that mean? If a Hillary Clinton supporter who now wants to do volunteer work for Obama comes into an Obama office, should those in the office genuflect? Have a standing ovation? Extra donuts? What?

Nobody owes anybody anything other than helping each other make sure that McCain gets his ass kick in the fall.

non-productive bullshit - no matter what the content. However, I haven't said much of anything for a long time and I felt like saying something now. It's my right as an American and as a DU member to tap on my keyboard and vent in anyway I see fit, as long as I don't break the rules, of course. So, I've done it and if it bothers you, I'm sure you can find something much more productive to do than to read it.

Who does she think she is? Well...it appears that she is NOT the Democratic nominee for this race, or haven't you heard? You are beating a dead horse with your OP, and it is counter-productive. That is all I am saying. This is not a personal attack by any means ( I don't even know you ) but posting something of this nature at THIS TIME is not helping people come together for the nominee on THIS SITE....do you comprehend ANYTHING I am saying here? It is easy to win an argument if the OP gets to make up whatever claim they want and put it into the mouth of Hillary. Either way, it is in poor taste because it is not helping us to unify behind our new, wonderful, charming, and charismatic nominee Obama. (A person who would never say some of the mean things that are said on this board.)
