Debbie Wasserman Schultz, Alcee Hastings, 2 Others FL come out for Obama
Edited on Thu Jun-05-08 06:46 PM by RamboLiberal
More Dem elected officials continue to coalesce behind Obama: A bloc of four Members of Congress from Florida who previously backed Hillary -- including one of Hillary's most loyal supporters -- is coming out for Obama, one of their spokespeople confirms to me.

The four are Alcee L. Hastings, Corrine Brown, Kendrick B. Meek, and Debbie Wasserman Schultz, a very committed Hillary loyalist.

While its hardly surprising that Dem elected officials are coming out for Obama right now -- the entire New York Congressional delegation endorsed him today -- the support of these Florida Reps. is key, because they might be able to help soothe voters in this crucial state that are still upset about the failure to seat the full Florida delegation. The Obama camp advocated for a half-seating.

"It is with enthusiasm and excitement that we endorse Barack Obama for President," the four will say in a statement soon to go out to reporters that will also ask Obama to "do everything in his power" to seat the full delegations at the convention.

"All of us standing on one stage, hand-in-hand will send a clear message to Florida voters that regardless of who we previously supported, we stand united and as one from this day forward," the statement says.

6. Yeah, and I used to see her as a rising Democratic star ...
She's tarnished that a bit in this campaign by being so die-hard
and argumentative. (Yes, it's good to be forceful, but she crossed
the line and became downright combative at times.)

14. I used to watch late night C-Span and it would just be her, Meek
and Ryan, way into the wee hours. I still think she kinda rocks.

30. So did I! They were the "Under 40" group or something like that. I loved watching them...
I was really disappointed when she came out for Hillary, but I'm glad to have her back.

21. Yeah, she never felt the need to make sense when shilling for Hillary.
I can understand making reasonable arguments, but some of her arguments were just pure insanity. She always seemed to come off as disingenuous and not caring much for the party, just for her gal Hillary.

32. She really Powelled herself for Hillary. As did Stephanie Tubbs-Jones.
Sad to see them reduced to that.

35. She's an opportunist and we need to find someone to run against her next time.
Edited on Fri Jun-06-08 06:54 AM by KaryninMiami
Considering her desperate devotion to Hillary and her destructive behavior with that stupid "count every vote" campaign, one would have thought that she would at least wait until a VP was picked or till the dust settled before switching teams- but no, she's among the first and the most verbal to switch to the winner.

With that said and taking a deep breath, at this point, having her support Obama sooner rather then later, will give the rest of the Clintonistas she represented, a chance to pause perhaps and realize that they too, need to understand how dangerous it would be to support McCain, write in Hillary's name (as one of these groups is planning to do or so they say), or not vote at all, which translate to a vote for McCain. This election should not be close-- Obama should win in a landslide- but he can only do that if everyone on the Blue Team-- the Hillary supporters, the Edwards Supporters, the millions of new voters, the blue voting independents-- EVERYONE-- jumps in and supports Obama. Big time.

Go BAMA. We can do this - yes we can!

Say it isn't so! DWS LOVES the GOP Congressional reps in Florida. Isn't it time somebody took her sorry ass on, and out?

True, I thought she was full of BS much of the time, but she is formidable and it will be good to have her on Obama's side.

20. Wasserman-S is kinda cute
Wasserman-Schultz kind of got of my nerves when she was aggressively backing Clinton. But I am happy that she has come out in favor of party unity.

...(and I've always thought she was cute!)

I think it really has more to do with escaping the wrath of Howard Dean, in her case.
