Obama Campaign really going local.....one city's Dems seeking housing for Obama volunteers.

I don't get mail from the county Democratic Party since I questioned the chairman's effort to hurt the DNC fundraising and tell less than the truth about the chairman.

But I was amazed to get this from some city Democrats tonight, and I am very impressed.

Just some snippets.

The campaign is coming! The campaign is coming!
But it needs your help - Can you House an Obama Fellow?

What is an Obama Fellow? An Obama Fellow is a volunteer/supporter (male or female) who has agreed to support the Obama for America campaign in either a home state or travel to another state. They will have gone through an extensive training program, and be here ready to "hit the streets" helping us take Florida for Obama!

The Fellowship applicants have gone through a thorough interview process and have been "hired" to help elect Obama! Note - the Fellows are volunteers - they are not being paid - they are a good portion of the change that we've been waiting for! They will be assisting us with the VoteBuilder, phone banking, canvassing and inspiring more of us to become involved than ever before, etc.

Since we're Florida - we're due to get a bunch! But we need housing for these awesome Fellows! They'll be away from their temporary "home" daily from 9 am to 9 pm / 7xweek, they'll provide their own meals and transportation - just need a place to rest their head and take a shower!

Can you help house an Obama Fellow? or two? If you've got a spare bed, a pull-out sofa, even space to blow up an air-mattress - can you help? The Obama Fellows will arrive Monday, June 16th and they'll be with us through July 26th.

If you can, what's the next step?

Let ____ know - email her at ________ - with your name, address, phone number, # of beds available, and any notes ie. pets, smokers/nonsmokers, kids, etc.

Talk it over with the family and let _______ know by 7:00 pm this evening.

We need temporary (6 week) housing in/near Tampa, Brandon, Clearwater, St Pete, Sarasota and anywhere else you live! Note - the more "beds" we have - the more Obama Fellows will be sent!

This is an amazing method of getting down to the local areas.

I hope this organized, well-run campaign will shame some of our state Democratic leaders who have been acting like pouty children into shutting their mouths and getting to work.

I hope this organized, positive campaign will shame these Democratic leaders into putting pressure on those who still have pending lawsuits against Dean and the party into dropping them for the sake of unity.

And here is the DEC website for Brevard....but not sure they have an office open all the time. Our county did not in 2004...just part of the time. At least a number to call.

7. The Dean campaign did the same thing in the primaries.
I stayed at a supporter's home when I volunteered in New Hampshire. It was GREAT having a nice home to stay in, and an appreciative host rather than an anonymous hotel clerk. Plus, it helped make the trip affordable to me. I would highly recommend this to anyone thinking of providing a bed or any volunteer thinking of staying at a home.

11. How cool is this?!
I think this will happen in different times at different degrees. It's got to rub off 'cause it gets results. Maybe they'll wanna stop being dinos and be real Dems.
