Jim Webb on the Daily Show
Sorry, I should have thrown this on the board as soon as I saw it, but my brain isn't adding 2 and 2 right now, so...

If anyone saw it, what were your impressions? The senator sounded slightly reserved, but overall, I thought he looked good. Has anyone read his book? I'm on a tight budget and was thinking about getting it.

Also, does anyone know how far in advance the Daily Show/Colbert Report are taped?

1. Same day taping
but a few hours earlier than airtime. The show doesn't air live.

2. I thought he did well

He had a good comeback to Jon's "trotsky" line, make good points and had a sense of humor. I was afraid that he would back off criticizing McCain when he kept saying "the administration", so I was glad when Jon asked about McCain specifically (in reference to the GI bill), and Webb said that he was surprised, since McCain had no problem voting for a "600 hundred billion or something war, and both of our college educations were paid for". Jon said "So, are you the vice president?" at the end, and Webb heartily laughed and did a funny gesture and said he wasn't so sure after watching the first segment (the first segment was a montage of reporters asking "So, Hillary has to be the vice president? Right? Right?")
