Does anyone know Lindsey Williams?
http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=3870461488930715065&q=&hl=en

I haven't listened to all of the tapes, but enough to get the impression he doesn't believe in global warming. My RW friend is touting this message and is angry at this administration, believe it or not. But, I know him well enough to know the real culprits are Dems.

Anyone know Lindsey Williams?

2. No, but I can almost guarantee he wouldn't.
There are 5 men in this group and they are all Repugs. They also have scoffed about the economy, until we made them look at it and it actually hit them in their billfolds.

They scoff about global warming...it is just a fabrication of the Dems. Until the water from the melting ice bites them on the butt, they will continue to believe there isn't a problem. The fact that the WORLD believes we have a problem doesn't faze them.

I need a good comeback, but I was hoping someone had listened to this guy and could recap his blurb, as I don't think I have the stomach for it.

I keep hoping I will convert them, but they are stubborn nuts to crack.

3. I will not say that I am wishy washy, but...
back in the late eighties and early nineties I was willing to listen to the right wingers. They did not convince me, but I thought they had some points. I tried to convince right wingers leading up to 2004 of what a mistake it was. Hell, these people all called themselves Independents.

My point is, I found out that trying to convince them is harder than pulling teeth. I think that they are so fixed in their beliefs that it is impossible. Good for you that you convinced them about the economy, but I agree, "they are stubborn nuts to crack."

4. I do. He published a book in 1980 called "The Energy Non-Crisis".
Synopsis: He was the chaplain assigned to the crew building the Alaskan Pipeline. His position allowed him to be privy to inside information among the movers and shakers of the oil industry and Washington, and they gave him an education about oil supply and restriction of it. He was told that there was a vast pool of oil in Alaska but the powers that be would only allow a fraction of development and procurement in order to perpetuate the myth we were "running out of oil" to keep prices perpetually and artificially high.

You can order his book online. I first heard him speak on the radio program, "Coast to Coast". He sounded reasonable to me.

5. I know there are "holds" where oil and gas are stored, and I don't doubt
the "powers that be" are manipulating the prices to get these obscene profits, but that seems to be a different problem than global warming. We've had these stored areas for years, haven't we?

I think where the Repugs err is when they glom onto any lie they can to refute the global warming crisis. Most of the critics aren't going to be around when all hell breaks loose, anyway, so why should they suffer or work toward reversing the trend toward human-caused global warming? Shoot, I'm in that bunch, too, as far as not being around. However, I have great-grandchildren I'd like to know will be safe.

I will listen to the videos tonight and come up with an answer for him. I know I'll never convince him to change, but it might make him slow down in his actions and make him question his decisions.
