1. That would kick some serious ass. I just don't know if he'll go with another Senator. |
|
I think any governor has got the advantage right now.

Maybe Richardson. Those are the only people who I'd really be open with, but I guess we'll see?

3. Edwards has already declined. Brian Schweitzer of Montana is being talked about a lot. |

Unfortunately, my favorite pick already has a job as head of the DNC.

4. I'm not digging the moderates.... |
|
The reason only being that I think we can win substantially with a solid lefty in the ticket like Edwards or Feingold. I guess that's unrealistic thinking though

Feingold would put Wisconsin in the bag.

10. Feingold is finer than gold but there's little ideological and ... |
|
... even less geographic balance.
And Obama better win Wisconsin in a walk, regardless. If he doesn't, it will be a long nite.

awesome ticket, but I'm doubtful that Russ would even want the VP job.
I too an anxious to see who Senator Obama will choose for his running mate. Ahhhhh . . . the waiting game!

12. I love Russ Feingold..... |
|
He's one of a handful of favorite legislators. In fact, he tops the list for standing (alone in the Senate) up to the Patriot Act.
IMO, the addition of Russ would be disastrous for the ticket. Obama is already erroneously labeled far left -- adding Russ would lose too many moderates. I'd personally LOVE to have Russ on the ticket. I'd love to be voting for more progressive candidates, and Russ qualifies. Hell, I'd pick him over all of our Democratic candidates this season as my choice for president. But I just don't think it would be a good move on this ticket in this particular election.

13. Feingold's a great, but misunderstood man |
|
His detractors like to label him as an extremist, but he is everything but. That's why he keeps winning reelection in Wisconsin. The GOP tends to throw everything they have at him (though they're scared of Herb Kohl and his monster war chest and rural support), but they always come up short. Feingold has a lot of bipartisan support in the state.
Feingold is one of the most clear-thinking and level-headed people in the Senate. I recall that when his 2004 challenger ran attack ads ripping on him for voting against the Patriot Act (the only one to do so), he responded with his own ads, calmly stating that he voted against it because it was flawed legislation, and was unsuitable to pass. He got more votes than Kerry in '04.
But I'm not sure he'd be the best choice for a running mate. Not enough ideological balance, and most certainly not enough geographical balance (Obama already has tons of support in neighboring Wisconsin). Plus, his personal life (he's been going through a divorce as of late) could pose a slight problem. Then again, with McCain's skeletons factored in, this issue could be moot.
I personally think Feingold is more powerful in the Senate, but that's my opinion. Plus, I'd hate to lose a kick-ass senator.
