Oklahoma Dem won't endorse Obama
I hate my state. We are the most republican state in the union. To think we were the state that American Indians were actually forcefully moved to during the "trail of tears". The last state to be awarded statehood on the mainland because of racism towards those same people. Most news organizations do not even conduct regular polling in Oklahoma for the presidential race because we are always considered a safe republican state. Now the only Oklahoma congressmen who calls himself a "democrat", Dan Boren will not endorse Obama for president using republican talking points that he is the most liberal senator.

I said that we are hurting the party with these so called "blue dog democrats" before the '06 congressional election. We are going even deeper in this election. They may stage a coup after this election because more people who are disgruntled with the republican way are looking to vote for a democratic federal representative. Blue dogs are going to be the ruin of the progressive movement. We do not need them.

1. They need to follow the Dixiecrats and join the GOP ...
I think we've brought in enough new (more liberal) voters
to the party in this election cycle to make up for the
defections.

the republican party now known as the democractic party. Maybe we can get our support back in the South and bring back "seperate but equal" policies as well.

And since when does marriage equal procreation?

42. That's a good response. In reality, I suppose it comes down to the fact that
a large majority of voters (hetero's) want to reserve marriage to themselves, or they have something against same-sex couples. Maybe they are embarrassed by them? Whatever the reason, it's a losing issue for Democrats. That's all I'm saying.

43. Where's Fred Harris When You Need Him?
A lot of you won't know of Fred Harris, but he was a Senator from Oklahoma from 1964-1972. He came within a whisker of being VEEP with Humphrey in 1968. It came down to Harris & Muskie and HHH went with Muskie. Harris ran for president in 1972 - briefly. But it was his 1976 campaign that was probably the most progressive presidential campaign ever waged by any Democrat in modern times. His campaign slogan was "The Issue Is Privilege." I worked on that campaign and his following was loyal with a capital 'L'. What a great, great American is Fred R. Harris. It's hard to believe he came out of a state like Oklahoma. Of course, Oklahoma also gave Eugene Debs more votes than any state in the country. My, how times change.
