Obama"s Shortlist: Nelson, Daschle?
Good God, not Nelson! After the trouble he's caused that'd be unbearable. And Daschle? Not thrilled....

“Besides Jones, the other names on the list bandied about with congressional Dems include (and not in any order): Hillary Clinton, John Kerry, John Edwards, Evan Bayh, Kathleen Sebelius, Ted Strickland, Mark Warner, Tim Kaine, Jim Webb, Bill Nelson, Jack Reed, Joe Biden, Chris Dodd, Tom Daschle, and Sam Nunn. You'll notice a few names NOT on this list (that's not my exclusion -- hint hint). Besides Jones, I'm told the two other names that invited extended discussion were Biden and Strickland.”

2. I wouldn't fret about it; Obama said he's not talking until he makes
a decision, so it all sounds like speculation to me.

14. Maybe he's got a position already wrapped up?
I don't know how accurate or complete this list is. I'm currently high on Schweitzer for VP and am disappointed not to see his name.

I'd prefer Biden to be SOS (like anybody cares what I want), but if not, I think he'd be GREAT on the ticket.

And the way he behaved for Hillary and the delegates? Forget it.

18. Obama seems to have good rapport with him in the Senate Foreign Relations Committee
I'm betting that's the main reason he's on the list.

6. Sam Nunn ...

I started reading his name again, after quite a long time of near-obscurity, fairly recently.

Something seems to be in the wind with him.

29. If he picks Sam Nunn
Many of us would have the same feeling we experienced when we heard that Dick Cheney was going to be the VP candidate. Kind of like being served week-old leftovers that were horrible when they were fresh.

8. The idea of John Kerry as VP nominee makes me shudder with fear.
Note I said nominee, not VP itself. I'm sure he'd be a great vice president, but he's been so defined by the RW attack machine already, that their work is already done. They start ahead of us. Sadly, as good of a man and senator as he is, he's damaged goods.

and the people who are really being considered are being vetted in secret.

22. Interesting point
Especially since Edwards is on the list.

No problem with Edwards -- he was my guy in the primary

But, he already said no on at least 3 occassions.

21. General James Jones ...
That one is interesting. Serious national security cred there. The guy is a horror on television presence, which shouldn't mean anything, but it does. I'm having images Stockdale running through my mind, although I don't think Jones is that dumb.

Turned down feelers from Rice twice to be Deputy Sec. of State.

Says we're losing in Afghanistan ... or was at least a part of an organization that put that as the first line on a report about it. If he's gonna go military, he could do worse.

But I hope he doesn't go military.

23. As long as it's someone who doesn't have a globalist record, I'm happy
I.e. Say no to Clinton, Bayh, Mark Warner, Bill Nelson, and probably a few others.

And a big YES to Edwards and Webb.
