Would I be crazy if I said I kind of liked the idea of Eddie Rendell as VP?

The PA governor has an awesome personality, takes a state that we critically need off the map as a battleground, connects with the blue collar vote, is charming and has won a hotly contested primary of his own. I've always liked Ed like even when he was DNC chair even though I was disappointed that he didn't support Senator Obama.

OK, tell me why Eddie Rendell would be a crazy choice.

He's slimy. I wouldn't trust him as far as I could throw a grand piano. He's exactly the kind of old-school machine politician that Obama is not.

I grew up in PA, 25 years. Don't believe the BS about racism, blue collar etc. Penn State was the first college in the nation to enroll African Americans. It is gritty, common sense based but America is SICK of 8 years of corruption. Have faith and work hard.

And I think that Rendell's democratic machine will help Obama win in November anyways without Eddie as VP. He has some moments of truth, but other than that, I've always kind of gotten a used car salesman vibe off of his personality. Plus, the right is farrakhan obsessed and they would make a big deal over that youtube.
