1. Sometimes I think that all that is part of the plan.
Then again, it might be that his heart or brain, liver or 400 year ol' pancreas will soon give out!

2. You got it...
Surprises in store, I surmise.

For 2 trivia points, name the republicon homelander crony candidate who has not ended, but rather 'suspended' his campaign?

3. He will not be the repuke nominee, I agree so that leaves the door wide open
...for Michael Bloomberg a know neocon/fascist to walk into the RNC and take the nomination based on Big Money backers

18. He actually quit the party a few months ago.
Hard to get nominated when you aren't in the party. Maybe one of the other wannabes with connections, like Mitt, Rudy, etc?

5. So who do you think might be then? That would be very abnormal indeed....
If the Repugs were to change their designated nominee in the middle of the game... But this has been mentioned before here on DU.

6. Wouldn't THAT be a kick in head
Edited on Tue Jun-10-08 10:55 PM by rocknation
The Rethugs got to smugly sit by while the Dems went through all that grief to find a nominee, and THEY'RE the ones who end up "taking it to the convention!"

Edited on Tue Jun-10-08 10:53 PM by swampg8r
they dont have anyone who can walk in and take control
theres no one repub who would be able to garner the support needed to win
they have lost control of their base and no one would be able to bring them all back

16. Don't you think one of the religious fanatics - Huck/Mitt -- would be willing to do it?
I'm sure Newt would . . .

and he's quite the successful propagandist --- !!!

8. The rest of the field was so weak that McSame was the
best they could do. I think he will be nominated and his message will be "Vote your fears and prejudices and remember that I'm the white guy." It's all he has.

9. STOP saying that!!!!
I've been terrified that McCain would be replaced for months.

I've been WAY more worried about their convention than the Dems.

That guy is the best opponent we could hope for.

He ISN'T liked by his own party!

And that temper, coupled with his contempt for Obama, is going to make him throw a rod--and that's outside of the debates.

I really fear he will be replaced and, even though the next guy might not be much better, the party will be energized, saying, "I don't like him, but at least he's not McCain."

14. Few things MORE demoralizing to the Repukes
...than changing a horse mid-stream. I think McCain is a shockingly bad candidate, but believe that changing him would be more of a freak-out to the mainstream Repukes than sticking with him. Sorry, but I just don't see it....

15. I totally forgot about "Vikki Iseman-gate" or whatever,
until I saw it again on Countdown's primary montage. I mean, even if it is a non-story and a fabrication, it was kind of funny that she never turned up again to take a different picture other than the two in circulation. People have managed to track down every single extra from political commercials it seems, yet Vikki Iseman was never touched on again. God, I can't imagine what it must have been like having your picture flashed all over tv with the implication of an affair with MCCAIN! Embarassing...

19. so why did they nominate Bob Dole?
They might be saving their best and brightest for a more auspicious election, but it's still pretty sad when McCain and Huckabee are the standard bearers. I think they expected to barely win or even lose to Clinton, on the assumption that they'd win Congress for the foreseeable future like the 1994-2006 period following Hillary's last foray into public relations, or at the very least oppose a third-way president they could blame for all of Bush's failures who wouldn't blame Bush in turn.

21. Yep - I have been hollering this for a while. He is a shill.
A ruse in old skin.

This is his final mission, probably given to him by his friend the President.

All he has to do is stay in long enough for the Dems to relax and then he can drop out and they can spring some Religionist freak that will complete the fundy March to Armageddon...
