As GD-P Comes to a Close, My Final Thoughts on how to Change the Primary System
I think in many ways, the primary system this year was exposed as being stupid and unfair. I also recognize that some of these changes can or will never happen. So, here is what I want to see

1. Superdelegates should be eliminated

It is ridiculous that party leaders should in any way be able to overrule the voters. That would be a poor precedent to ever set and I think it can and should be avoided in any way possible.

2. No more Caucuses

I think Hillary has no right to complain because she knew the rules coming into it. If we had only primaries, Obama would have had a different strategy. That said, Primaries allow for more voters to vote and the statistics clearly show that. Caucuses are unfair, though I would love to personally participate in one

3. The Calendar needs to remain the same, however, the first four primaries should rotate. Iowa and NH should not be the first anymore. Other small states should have the chance while still maintaining that the first four should be in geographically different areas. I say small because it makes retail politics much easier. Other states like Vermont, Delaware, Maine, Connecticut, Rhode Island, North Dakota, New Mexico, Mississippi, Montana, etc.

4. The Delegate system should be modified to take into account turnout. It isnt right that in Puerto Rico, less than 400,000 people voted and they have 55 delegates, while more than that voted in MS, and they have 28 delegates. There should be a system to make sure that percent turnout is factored in to how many delegates each state gets.

5. All Primaries should be open but exclude Republicans.

I think the most effective nominee is somebody that appeals to Independents. I think this primary process ensures that we see a nominee that appeals to the indies and the dems.
