MSNBC: Strickland takes his name off Obama's VP list
Edited on Wed Jun-11-08 08:37 AM by 48percenter
From NPR, "absolutely NOT." He doesn't want to even THINK about it.

" Ohio Gov. Ted Strickland, whose name has been floated as a possible running mate for presumptive Democratic nominee Barack Obama, says he's not looking to fill the No. 2 spot on the Democratic ticket. If drafted, I will not run; nominated, I will not accept; and if elected, I will not serve," he tells Michele Norris."

Good because I don't think he is VP material anyhow.

1. Obama's advisors continue to blunder ...
Stickland, a staunch Hillary supporter said:
"If drafted, I will not run; nominated, I will not accept; and if elected, I will not serve," he tells Michele Norris.

WHY would Obama's advisors even put Sttrickland on the list?
That's like a girl going on "The Bachelorette" show, and selecting the guy who raped her as her mate.
Nice guys finish last.
How dumb!

4. You're an idiot.
You put plenty of people on your list. Doesn't mean you're going to ask them

6. I'm still not convinced that this list was from Obama advisors
I mean, John Edwards is on the list, and he has stated that he is not interested in the VP slot. Wouldn't the Obama team have had SOME form of communication with Edwards as to whether or not he was interested? Plus, the list is pretty standard, these names are the same names that every single news publication and media outlet have been throwing out there for VP suggestion. If it was leaked, I think it may be intentionally to throw people off. Pat Buchanan actually said last night (I know, I know. I hate him, but maybe he has a point here) that it could be a PR stunt to flatter these people (help them in their districts to know that they were considered for the position of VP), and to just prompt dialogue as to how these choices would be received. I mean, look at the number of anti-Webb stories that have been coming out the last week? (I like Webb personally and don't really take issue with a lot of the things that other people do take issue with him for, but it kind of helps the vetting in the sense that they can sense the faux-outrage that these people would prompt). I'm kind of glad that Strickland doesn't want it, he never thrilled me and hopefully his team will still work for Obama to win Ohio. I do think his "I will not accept, if elected I will not serve" thing is a bit dramatic, haha.

Has there been any official response from the Obama team about this VP list "leak"?

7. "The List" could've been made up by Matt Drudge for all we know
Strickland's response was so silly. But then again this is the guy that stood behind Clinton and nodded in approval during her "shame on you" rants.

8. WTF - that was a dumbass comment
Obama is considering all potential prospects to be VP. Strickland is a good candidate because he is quite popular in his home state of Ohio where we need to win in 2008. I don't think Obama cares who his potential nominees support.

As for comparing Strickland to a rapist - that's just plan stupid

9. That drooling old fart never had any chance at being invited to the inauguration
Edited on Wed Jun-11-08 09:14 AM by TexasObserver
... muchless getting on the ticket. They put his name out there to help get votes in Ohio. And the old fart is raining on it because he's a remorseless Hill fanatic.

He's a POS.
