9. That's like asking "did the turd drop out of the anus?"
Edited on Wed Jun-11-08 01:43 PM by TahitiNut
There's few more corrupt folks than Phil and Wendy Gramm. They're at the very core of the Enron corruption and the current hedge fund speculation on oil pricing.

Is she really supposed to be "the liberal voice" of the show?

6. The smear campaign has begun
it is a shame that Mr. Johnson stepped down due to pressure from McClone and his sleazy campaign. Mr. Johnson was a volunteer and not a paid lobbyist like those working in the McClone campaign. At any rate, I think that they found Obama's running mate and we will probably meet him/her in 1-2 weeks

19. It's the Obama campaign taking the high road

And not letting this turn into an issue the pubbies can use against us.

And it's the kind of response that is going to win us the WH.

18. How about a writing-in campaign in reference to Gramm's work
for McCain?

Maybe if we give the media hell, they'll do our bidding.

After all, we are in charge of kicking the shit out of the media when they are out of line like this, and don't have a compeling reason for it. We know that they are McSame's base, and because of that, we have to be very vocal.

It is fine that Mr. Johnson chose to step down, not fine that Gramm isn't getting the same kind of attention. Our job is to point this out to the media pronto. Now that Johnson has left, the media has no reason to justify the ties to big business that the "faux maverick"'s team has. None.

21. it shouldn't have been an issue, but it is a distraction, so it's the right move
There is no indication JJ did anything inappropriate at all, but there's not point in losing several days fighting it.

23. agree
I think it's good he stepped down...even the perception of a conflict of interest isn't good, I say keep people with these type of connections off the campaign.

33. Damned if you do, damned if you don't.
If Jim Johnson stayed, the McCain camp would have tried to taint Obama's VP pick. It makes sense to respond quickly -- things become old news almost instantly these days. JJ will be forgotten by Monday.

30. Correction in lapse of judgment
I can't believe that he would choose a former Fannie Mae CEO for his VP committee.

But also good to know Obama seems capable of correcting his mistakes in a timely manner.

32. This is the equivalent of leaving the pitcher alone when he's throwing a no-hitter.
By the seventh inning, he's sitting alone on the bench because nobody wants to mess it up.

Jim Johnson didn't have to leave the committee, but he did in order to avoid messing things up.
