Poll question: Migration Poll - Where did we all start before we joined to support Senator Obama?
If you had multiple candidates before Obama select the one that you felt the strongest about.

'Gave $500 to Kucinich, but the fool campaign never
even deposited the check! That's okay, now we still
have some money left over to give to Obama ;).

5. I liked Edwards a bit more--my concern was that Obama was "too nice"
Obama started winning me over when he addressed that "too nice" issue in a debate. Once Edwards was out, I gladly supported Obama (but would've voted for Clinton, of course, had she won.)

Easy to forget what a fine field of candidates we had to choose from this time around.

6. I was holding out for Gore
Didn't really accept that he was sitting this one out until about last October. I was "unaffiliated" after that until Iowa. Initially, I thought Obama would be Gore's VP and then be elected himself in 2016.

23. K - E - O
Kucinich first, as he was best on the issues, though I knew he had no chance. Then Edwards, because I liked his feistiness, his willingness to put the blame where it belongs, and his focus on class divisions. When he dropped out, I went to Obama immediately. I too was worried about his conciliatory approach, and racist opposition to him. But he has put my concerns about those things to rest.

Obama gave a speech as a state Senator in Illinois on that date.

48. Obama, but had a brief time of Kucinich as my #1.
I really like Kucinich's actions in the House, and believe he is "all in" for the people. However, I came back to Obama, because I felt he had stronger leadership qualities. I wish he would adopt more of Dennis' plans, such as single-payer healthcare, but that probably would have hindered his chances to win the nom, which is ridiculous. God forbid one is labeled "too liberal", although it is a badge of honor here, and I am glad for that, anyway.

52. I think everyone in here basically agrees with Kucinich on a policy level

The reason we don't have single payer healthcare, IMHO, is because we don't have a parlimentary system so making large changes are almost impossible. We have to work incrementally and back door it, unless we are able to sweep 10 seats in the Senate.

50. I was with Obama ever since I was on stage with him in 2006
He came for a Casey-Rendell rally in Philadephia and I was working for a local race at the time and was chosen to be on stage with all the politicos. Obama had command of the theatre the moment he walked on stage and gave an amazing speech on hope and democracy. I was firmly in his camp as a result.

53. I've been for Obama since the 2004 speech and was thrilled when he announced -
but I must admit my softspot for Richardson. Whenever I take the little internet quizzes designed to tell you which candidate you agree with, I always agree most closely with Richardson on the issues. But I knew when I saw Obama speaking in 2004 that he was our best chance to recapture the white house (especially if Gore declined to run again).

68. Here in Iowa ...
I looked over all of them and gave them all a chance.

I was close to going Edwards, but I watched his house floor speech over and over and over and over on why he was saying yes to giving the president the blank check to invade Iraq.

Then I watched his DNC speech on the same thing. Amid boos from progressives he became frustrated and emphasized his points harder and harder.

He sounded just like the other side.

That coupled w/ the zero fight he put up to get Ohio recounted in '04 made me look at Obama harder.

After listening to Obama I knew he was the guy to take back the White House.

GOBAMA!
