Wasserman Schultz: Obama has a "real opportunity" to win back angry Clinton supporters
<snip>

"Debbie Wasserman Schultz, once one of Hillary Clinton's fiercest Florida supporters, dove into the unity pool today, attacking John McCain on a conference call hosted in part by Emily's List, another major Clinton supporter.

Worried that Clinton's primary loss to Barack Obama could prompt some of her female supporters to sit out the race -- or back McCain -- the Weston Democrat and others savaged McCain for his stance on a number of issues, including opposing federal funding for universal pre-K.

"John McCain is clearly out of touch and insensitive to the needs and plight of women," Wasserman Schultz said. She noted that there was a "perception" that McCain is a moderate, but said he has called Roe v. Wade a "flawed decision.

"When it comes right down to it, in order to advance the progress women have made, to improve their quality of life, the last thing in the world that women needs to do is vote for McCain," she said."

1. Obama can't win back what he never had. It'll be interesting to see these
issues aired and how high they stay on the candidate's agenda.

2. debster probably saw she has the short end of the stick,
given her behavior the last two months. Now, her poll numbers must be saying something pretty wild.

shame on debster. For her, AIPAC and her GOP buddies are more important than our country's future.

11. Respectfully, What Does AIPAC Have To Do With It?
Barack Obama's positions on Israel are indistinguishable from John McSame...I offer a link to Obama's AIPAC speech as Exhibit One:

But if anyone has been confused by these emails, I want you to know that today I'll be speaking from my heart, and as a true friend of Israel. And I know that when I visit with AIPAC, I am among friends. Good friends. Friends who share my strong commitment to make sure that the bond between the United States and Israel is unbreakable today, tomorrow, and forever.

One of the many things that I admire about AIPAC is that you fight for this common cause from the bottom up. The lifeblood of AIPAC is here in this room - grassroots activists of all ages, from all parts of the country, who come to Washington year after year to make your voices heard. Nothing reflects the face of AIPAC more than the 1,200 students who have travelled here to make it clear to the world that the bond between Israel and the United States is rooted in more than our shared national interests - it's rooted in the shared values and shared stories of our people. And as President, I will work with you to ensure that it this bond strengthened.

Our alliance is based on shared interests and shared values. Those who threaten Israel threaten us. Israel has always faced these threats on the front lines. And I will bring to the White House an unshakeable commitment to Israel's security.

That starts with ensuring Israel's qualitative military advantage. I will ensure that Israel can defend itself from any threat - from Gaza to Tehran. Defense cooperation between the United States and Israel is a model of success, and must be deepened. As President, I will implement a Memorandum of Understanding that provides $30 billion in assistance to Israel over the next decade - investments to Israel's security that will not be tied to any other nation. First, we must approve the foreign aid request for 2009. Going forward, we can enhance our cooperation on missile defense. We should export military equipment to our ally Israel under the same guidelines as NATO. And I will always stand up for Israel's right to defend itself in the United Nations and around the world

17. I thought the topic was DWS and her traitorous ways
she has refused to campaign for D congressional candidates in Florida, because her AIPAC friends just happen to love those GOP congresscritters currently sitting in office. Her statements and behavior before and after Hillary withdrew were not just insulting, but demeaning. She started up the "draft Hill for VP" campaign in an effort to tie the hands of our party's nominee.

She has been a walking embarrassment and I think she realized that she went too far. No way can this person ever head of the DCCC - her priorities are all wrong.

4. Senator Clinton Supporters should be wooed and courted
just like any other segment of the population. The goal is to win. Taking a group for granted or alienating a group probably isn't a key ingredient in victory.

5. I know quite a few women who voted for HRC but now regret it
They voted in primaries early in the process---when name recognition
was high for her and people were still getting to know Obama---but
after her "kitchen sink" strategy, 3AM ad, praising BombBomb at
Obama's expense, ad nauseum, they have admitted they wish they had
their votes back. HRC claims have "18 million voters" behind her
but I'd like to know how many of those people would still have voted
for her at the END of the processs, after the tactics she used.

8. McC went further than calling Roe v Wade flawed.
He came right out and said it should be overturned.

"I do not support Roe v. Wade. It should be overturned."

Those who spread the seeds of division are being used as tools by the media and those who want to defeat us.

14. There's no such thing.
Any "Clinton supporter" claiming they may vote for McCain is simply bluffing, and poorly. Any McCain supporter pretending to be a Clinton supporter wouldn't vote for Obama anyway.
